Re: Selection Headaches
i know it's pretty sad lol, but i feel bad for Barbs being restricted to the backline. when he's on the ball, i sense that he just wants to run it up there and have a ping lol. it's in his blood. but 1st team is 1st team, and i'm sure he's happy. if he sticks at RB, and is eventually good enough to get the same freedom as Cassio, he'd be an even more exciting player.

Does Mullen get the nod ahead of Cornthwaite then?

Re: Selection Headaches
i personally don't think Mullen should take his spot. we still heavily rely on Flakes' height in set pieces, and rightfully so. he's important to our attack. he will always draw defenders regardless of whether a set piece is targeted at him too.Does Mullen get the nod ahead of Cornthwaite then?

Re: Selection Headaches
I actually quite like Cornthwaite, he has good positioning it is just his distributionthat lets him down - but since he can just offload to Barbs, Fyfe, Reid or Hughes I don't see that as a massive issue.
Saying that Mullen is a much more mobile and assured CD than Corthwaite in many ways, I would find a backline of Barbs, Mullen, Boogard and Cassio to be quite immense - but when would we see it?

Not for a while considering Fyfe has been arguably or best and most consistent player over the last two years.I actually quite like Cornthwaite, he has good positioning it is just his distributionthat lets him down - but since he can just offload to Barbs, Fyfe, Reid or Hughes I don't see that as a massive issue.

Re: Selection Headaches
Unless Pantelis can return to his pre-injury form, he shouldn't be selected over Ramsay.
Barbiero's defending has been awful at best. He's good at running at players, but mostly when they're fairly worn out. Impact off-the-bench RB at best.
Selection headaches? There aren't any.

i love ramsay... in bursts. He doesn't yet have the experience to be a valuable player for a full 90 minutes.

Re: Selection Headaches
This is so very true, it is so fustrating how often I am yelling at the silly bugger to come inside, or to make a run and all he does is get in Cassio's way Though for all that he can pull of some great moments. I don't understand why we don't use him in a similar way to Ruka was by PG and when SVD has pulled the defensive line high put a cross field ball up for Ramsay to run onto - when he has his tail up he is very similar to Leckie in the sheer raw speed he has and that causes defenders to do stupid things - like pull him down when they are the last man.i love ramsay... in bursts. He doesn't yet have the experience to be a valuable player for a full 90 minutes.
