Re: Who's signed for next season
Signed Dukuly fir 2.5 years, missed out on Ikonomidis according to channel 10.
Sold Gauci, Popovic and lost Bernardo.
What was an already weaker team than last season is even worse now while the club has received record fees. Seems a bit of an insult to supporters tbh.

If we make finals from here Carl is officially a miracle worker.Signed Dukuly fir 2.5 years, missed out on Ikonomidis according to channel 10.

Re: Who's signed for next season
Agree Otto, CV will do very well to make finals from here.
I actually feel sorry for him as it feels he is on a hiding to nothing looking at what he has to work with.
There is a chance still, but things would need to change pretty fast!

Ikonomidis can be a good player but he's been rubbish for Melbourne. Dukuly I dunno, very young so could go either way, wouldn't have been expensive.Signed Dukuly fir 2.5 years, missed out on Ikonomidis according to channel 10.

Rather than knee jerk reactions demanding we splash the cash immediately, I'd rather we get the signings right and build the squad in the off season to mount a solid challenge next season. What's the point in insisting we sign players NOW just to **maybe** squeak into the finals?
Short term thinking from fans is just as damaging as a lack of ambition from owners, imo. Popovic, Gauci and Bernardo are huge outs but we don't have to replace them immediately.
All I need is some tasty waves, a cool buzz, and I'm fine.

At last, some sense.
Carl has repeatedly said that we will only bring players in if they fit in with the culture of the club.
This isn't Football Manager or FIFA guys. You can't just pick up ready made replacements with a couple of clicks of your mouse

Re: Who's signed for next season
I don't want the club to splash cash on big signings but I do want them to make good ones. It's hard to sign players from Europe in January so it didn't surprise me that we didn't do a lot but it was still underwhelming.
I think Mauk was a decent signing and he'll make a difference. Dukuly is more looking to next year with Nestor leaving and Halloran getting another year older.
I just don't think there's enough there for us to do anything this year. We didn't get our signings right in the off season and we're paying the price.

Run of bad luck with the injuries to all the defenders didn't help either. But it seems they're all slowly returning...
Still underwhelming though...

Re: Who's signed for next season
We'll ride out this season and maybe we'll make finals and maybe not. It's football so anything can happen.
Next year we'll have Van der Saag, Barnett, Panashe and maybe Toure fit. We probably need one good CB and one goal-scorer. Midfield is sound. Plenty of options for backup and young players sometimes leap forward (and sometimes back!!).
Carl does ok but we could do with a little more tactical flexibility and creativity for mine. But we are who we are.
Love the game, love the team , love the stadium. We're lucky to have this and - should the A-League fail - we'd miss it.

Gee there is a lot on here that think the club throwing them a couple of bread crumbs , and everything will be all good , we need 2-3 players at the start of the season and now we need more , but if u don’t want to succeed then alls good I guess

Re: Who's signed for next season
CV even said he wanted 1-2 more signings we didn’t get, which is basically saying the squad is not adequate as it stands. So that tells me he is also not happy with the current state, he looked and sounded pissed off tbh!

Good to see Bernardo scoring regularly and starting most weeks at MacArthur. Amazing he could not get on the bench at AU considering how average we are this season.

Re: Who's signed for next season
With Bovalina, Halloran, VDS, Panashe and Nestory there was a glut of right-sided attackers. I felt sorry for Bernardo as he had performed well at international level with the Joeys. Perhaps CV didn’t want to be accused of nepotism or maybe Bernardo had voiced his opinions. We’ll never know. I rated him.

Best wishes to him at his new club but we didn’t need a Jamie Tartt on top of everything else
