Appears we are without Rogic for the UAE match (and, I assume, the Peru game should we proceed).

Captain Goodwin provided the great assist from a free kick for Australia's first goal against Jordan and D'Arrigo scored with a fine shot for the U23.

UAE 1 Aussies 2 (Irvine, Hrustic)
Slightly dodgy first half, but very good second half.
Limited UAE to 4 chances, with 3 of them at very close range coming through their wide man getting in behind Atkinson at right back. Ryan was excellent in those key moments. The 4th chance was their goal which came from a cross from the same side.
Goodwin look solid if unspectacular. A couple of decent crosses, but will be disappointed he missed that open goal on the half volley unmarked at the back post.

Thought we were better with Goody off to be honest. Had a bright start but faded. At this level you need to be hitting the target with that volley.
Once we conceded we really stepped it up and it looked like there was only going to be one winner.
Well deserved and a good performance in the second half.
We will need to be much better next week against Peru.

Agreed, though it should be noted there are some older legs in the Peruvian backline. Indeed their squad is on the older side of the ledger Making them run hard in the Doha heat may work in our favour. We will need to be much better next week against Peru.

HT Aus 0 Peru 0
Good first half. We’ve created more chances and IMO better chances than Peru. Limited them to one header and one run in behind. We kept up our high press throughout most of the half, while Peru haven’t kept up their early intensity up high. (Atkinson looking much less fragile than against UAE, but Peru aren’t targeting him like UAE did.)
We don’t look outclassed. My worry before the game was that we might be completely outclassed. Not worrying about that as we go into the second half.

We’ve been looking the more likely winner the longer game goes on. Great pull back by Mabil for Hrustic creates the best chance on the game.

FT 0-0
I think extra time will suit us better than Peru.
Mooy looking to be tiring. Such an important player but not sure he can last another 30 mins. Hrustic has been much quieter second half, but has the talent for a decisive moment. Boyle has been marked out of the game most of the second half after Peru put extra men out there.
Maybe MacLaren for Leckie? McGree for Hrustic if he tires?

Karacic good early involvements. Good tackle & overlapping run, followed by an important header in our box.

Peru the only chance of that first half of extra time with that long range effort straight at Ryan.
I think we need another change. MacLaren certainly not providing the same energy as Duke or Leckie.

Peru a great chance getting in behind and pulling back.
