There is also the question as to who from the NPL is ready to step up. The team is going quite well at the moment.

Re: Who's signed for next season
Pretty poor recruiting this year. All three have gone with one being injured 75% of the season, one leaving after only a handful of games and the last not seeing out his contract. Disappointing to say the least.

Re: RE: Re: Who's signed for next season
True, although there is also the added risk of these guys being one year older and slower. The hard thing about it is that only about 50% of visa players are worth signing. We are losing 2 known quantities and will be looking at signing potentially 4 new visa players, who knows how they'll turn out.Thats a shame i really liked adlung, his style really suited australian football.
Its not the end of the world to lose absalonsen abd adlung. Maybe in previous years you just know we will replace them with with journeymen.
Things are already very different with elsey and Lia being snapped up early.
Im really expecting 3 quality visas to replace matmour adlung and absalonsen next season
I think a large factor in regard to the hit and miss of visa players is many clubs lack of networks overseas and limited funds.
If you looks at city, victory and sydney their visa players almost always live up to expectation.

Where was Adlung's release request reported? Not good news at all.

Matmour, Absalonsen and now Adlung all gone because their wives pushed them to come home
I think we should start signing bachelors from now on tbh

Re: Who's signed for next season
Massively disappointed if Adlung leaves.
fuarrrrk.
But I will say this, if he hasn't been happy here it hasn't affected his performances. He gave his all and worked for the team all season, never complained or dropped his head. Big respect & best of luck.

All I need is some tasty waves, a cool buzz, and I'm fine.

Absolonsen out and Goodwin in, I'd take that.
Adlung out and McGree in would take that if on the table (though I doubt it will be)
Still need a No10.

I wonder if Marquee wages would tempt Adlung into staying, he is worth it IMO.

Agree, he was pretty high up in the Johnny Warren medal tally, so was Isiais. One of them may have finished higher but they were probably taking points off each other.I wonder if Marquee wages would tempt Adlung into staying, he is worth it IMO.

Re: Who's signed for next season
Generally the top aleague clubs have a top heavy 11 with only a light sprinkling of standout talent left in the squad, relying on the fitness of the first 11 and youth to create depth. Just take a look at our own grandfinal/ premiership year.
With that in mind i think its worth throwing Mells a life line.

Still only 20, would be behind konsta and lia plus what ever visa player we have.
I think the risk to reward ratio would be favourable given a low asking price and depth in his positions.
Not saying he would be a league stand out but would be an excellent squaddy in a salary capped squad with the possibility to fulfill his potential ( just look at konsta thia year to his previous year at brisbane as an example )

Re: Who's signed for next season
With the dialogue from the club about returning to its roots and rumours about goodwin returning i wonder if there are other players were are enquiring about who would be fantastic aquisitions to the squad.
I think mabil is an obvious one, i beleive he signed a 5 year deal when he left us but he has bounced around on load since and there were rumours in Amors second Mabil may return. I have an inkling that a mabil baba goodwin front third will put bums on seats.
Mcgowan according to wiki has not played a game since he left us ) i find this hard to believe) but is currently on loan in korea.
Then there is always the chance of Jeggo returning.
Im not a fan of signing players simply because of the warm fuzzy feels. However all three would fill considerable gaps in our squad and would be a success off the pitch also.

Re: Who's signed for next season
Sorry Shin, but I don't think James Jeggo will be coming back anytime soon.
He was a fixed starter under the old trainer Franco Foda in the first half of the season and he came back from illness after the winter break to win his place back in the team with a new trainer and system.
Sturm Graz, his club, will more than likely finish second and they have a cup final to play next week so they will play European football next season.
Actually I am surprised and slightly miffed he has not been called up to the provisional Socceroo squad.

Me too a little given he is a true box-to-box midfielder and I thought would have been included as cover for both Mooy and Luongo should either pull up lame.
