Blackwood 2 more for the Olyroos.
In good form.

Both tap ins but great for his confidence.Blackwood 2 more for the Olyroos.

Izzo had a great game also.
Decent chunk of SA boys in the Olyroos starring 11 with Mauk, Izzo, Garuccio, Kamau.

His goals here have been too, but I would rather him be in a position to score them than not.
Too often this year we haven't had the players in position for the easy goals like that and almost entirely because they haven't taken the chance

I know having Kurz didn't want the United boys to go to Olyroos tournament, but if Blackwood comes back with some goals & confidence under his belt that may be a very good thing for us.
All I need is some tasty waves, a cool buzz, and I'm fine.

The AUFC W-league team scored a fantastic goal from a short corner this arvo. It was nice to see a short corner result in an AUFC goal for a change!

Re: How are we going to score goals?
Ante Jukić on Adelaide's goalscoring problems - why, when we have more shots than anyone, do we fail to convert?
"Adelaide’s possession with the opposition defence embedded borders on the one-dimensional and tedious."
https://www.theguardian.com/football/20 ... nerating?
Basically, we're predictable and easy to read in our movement, so it almost doesn't matter who we have up front and what our 'attacking intent' is. Not a hugely controversial claim, but unfortunately there's not much actual analysis of this sort in the local Adelaide press

Re: How are we going to score goals?
Good article, and it does outline some of our problems.
But I believe the main issue are the players. We have had Mileu, Blackwood and Kitto up front for the majority of the season. Possibly the youngest front 3 of the comp (maybe bar CCM). Losing Matmour so early as well, we missed the experience to carve out better chances.
Johan was key to our point against City. He is just a bigger threat going forward.
If we have SFC, or Victorys front three instead, we would have a bag full of extra goals. Simple.

Re: How are we going to score goals?
Yeah - I think a big element of our predictability is not 'tactical' so much as it is to do with the fact that we just don't have a super-creative attacking midfielder OR a striker whose runs and physicality cause the sort of chaos in the box that we can capitalise on. Both Baba & Dzengis have that potential imo, just need to see more of it

Re: How are we going to score goals?
It's refreshing to finally read an article on what has been painfully obvious of the club for all of this season and last.
As I've said before AU could have Berisha and Fornaroli up front and they'd still struggle with the amount of chances created by their midfield.
It is a bit unfair of the article to target Isaias as he is always the one who starts the play so expecting him to be in positions to create opportunities to shoot is unlikely.

Re: How are we going to score goals?
Yeah I don't think it's a criticism of Isaias, more that it's a pity we can't clone him and have him play #10 role as well as #6!

Re: How are we going to score goals?
Yeah it would be interesting to see how he goes in a #10 role over a longer period. He's filled in there at times. I haven't been impressed nor disappointed with him in that position in those times.

All of which highlight how useful a McGree or Mail would have been.

Re: How are we going to score goals?
Comparing McGree v Mauk v O'Doughtery v Konstandopoulos - how big a difference do you reckon there is between them as a number 10 at the moment? And how much of an upside is there to O'D and Konsta?
Re: How are we going to score goals?
We don’t need either of them. They’d both be bench players. Mauk is a box to box mid = Adlungz Malik a defensive mid = Isaias without the skill.
We need:
A #10
A RW with better final product, though I like Mileu and he is doing well enough.
A fit and firing LW: Abso (when fit and firing)
A striker
A LB that isn’t Garrucio. Ben impresses with yhe ball at his feet, but is he effectualy? The answer is no. Poor crosser and never skins a player. Only servicable defensively, too.
So we only need to replace half the outfield
