Football no longer Australia's #1 sport

The release of the 2013/14 National Cricket Census, shows 1.106 million Australians participated in cricket during 2013/14, cementing cricket as the number one participation sport in Australia as measured by independent research firm, Street Ryan.

Not sure what the football numbers are now. Not really that surprising to see cricket catching up. Not massively concerning either and most people/kids are able to play both sport.

But what constitutes a statistic? Do the after school Milo programs for primary school kids count?? Coz a 60 minute tippy go session a handful of times a year shouldn't be counted against juniors playing football week in week out for a club.

I would imagine in all sports. If a kid is signed up in any capacity they would count it. So obviously there would be many kid and people included in more then one sport's numbers.
