I may be wrong but the AFL grand final attracts around 2-3 million at 1:30 in the afternoon.
Very good numbers TBH

I think there was a debate we had on here about how important Australia's participation in the World Cup is for the landscape of football in the country.
This confirms just how critical it is. No other popular sport can compete with something of this magnitude.

Are the games even on Foxtel? Thought SBS had exclusive rights for the WC.

There you go. I don't have Foxtel, so
If my memory is still correct, about 22 million watched AU v Nagoya in the 2012 ACL Round of 16.

I have been super impressed with SBS coverage, all game replays can be watched free online, on your phone, tablet, xbox360. God I wish a-league had free replays online.

Personally i love foz commentating the games, he can go full potato sometimes but his passion and knowledge trump anyone else seen on aussie screens. Oh and the return of ned zelic is a massive win

Coverage has been A+ and Fozz is definitely my favourite commentator.

SBS have blown FoxSports out of the water in terms of general football event coverage. Yes, the WC is 1000x bigger than the A-League, but their various shows (from the brilliant The Full Brazilian to the various highlights and general preview shows), the 31 Brazilian movies, online coverage...the list is endless. If SBS can manage a similar scope of coverage for the HAL then they're onto a winner.
