Re: WCQ Draw
I dont think we should really be worried who is in our group, as if we cant beat certain teams in asia then we wont be competitive in a wc.

6 one, half a dozen the other. We have Japan however I see Uzbekistan as much stronger than Iraq.
In all two fairly even groups as opposed to last time round where our group was ok and the other absolute agony.

Totally agree with that.I dont think we should really be worried who is in our group, as if we cant beat certain teams in asia then we wont be competitive in a wc.

Re: WCQ Draw
Lol at the boofheads claiming we're in the group of death on twitter!
How can the best side in the tournament consider they group dangerous?
If we don't qualify for the WC with at least one game spare there is something seriously wrong. IMO though Japan appear to be going from strength to strength ATM I'll be happy if we come away with a point from both their matches.

Partly the youth development but primarily as a number of their players have left Uzbekistan since the Asian Cup and have developed and hardened in Asian leagues and the Russian Premier League.Exactly why are the uzbeks stronger in your opinion ?
The Iraqis have some wonderful flair and little to lose however I suspect the Uzbeks are a cut above

Re: WCQ Draw
Their youth sides are definately quality but their senior squad has yet to show the same form. Seems to be another country with a national league with more money then talent as such the stars stick around instead of bettering themselves against quality opposition. (Until AUFC shows up! ) Maybe the ones playing in Russia might benefit from the increase in quality being signed there and hopefully increased standard of football played.Partly the youth development but primarily as a number of their players have left Uzbekistan since the Asian Cup and have developed and hardened in Asian leagues and the Russian Premier League.Exactly why are the uzbeks stronger in your opinion ?

Partly true, they waltzed through the 3rd round.Their youth sides are definately quality but their senior squad has yet to show the same form. Their local league doesn't have much cash, just Bunyodkor.

Re: WCQ Draw
all we need is to win the games that we should, oman and jordan home and away and iraq we should get 4 points from, that would see us through...if we get a point or 2 from japan we could afford to drop points away. i have confidence in this group

Re: WCQ Draw
I was kinda hoping for Uzbekistan actually. I'm supposed to be heading over to Kazakhstan for work this year and it could have been a fairly convenient trip across to Tashkent.

Re: WCQ Draw
so have they released where the home games will be played? ofcourse it will be melbourne sydney and brisbane only, which is why the first group qualifiers should be played in the other states, but who am i kidding.
