All I will say is that it hurts slightly less than the last one. Spain were obviously the better team on the day, in fact for the whole competition, and it would have been daylight robbery if England had won it. Whereas Italy were there for the taking at Wembley.
Southgate is the ultimate man-manager and without the bond he has developed with the players they probably don't reach the latter stages in these tournaments. But then it becomes a disadvantage when his loyalty means keeping unfit and underperforming favourites in the team.
