Lockdown

Postby red wombat Wed Nov 18, 2020 11:42 pm

I tend to lurk rather than post, so please forgive me for starting a thread.

With the new season starting at the end of Dec (not that long away), how do you think the current lockdown is going to affect us? We can't assume the state will just open up again next Wed, at best we'll be looking at a staged reopening. So what are the ramifications? (and yes, I know it's all speculation)
For starters, training is going to be disrupted.
If things go on, playing interstate will become an issue.
Does anyone really trust these training hubs which, last time, seemed to favour the favoured cities?
And how, with the current situation, are we going to get new players in and up to speed before they're needed?

After all these seasons, I'm a little sick of AU not being ready for a new season, and covid doesn't seem to be helping the usual situation (three keepers, none of which have first team experience? Once again, 'looking for a striker'?)

Far out!

There is this,
Adelaide United’s A-League preparations are in limbo, with Reds coach Carl Veart revealing the club’s first-round clash could be postponed due to COVID-19 ramifications.

However, Veart and the Reds are bracing themselves for a move to NSW similar to the Adelaide Strikers’ relocation to Coffs Harbour to prepare for the BBL season starting on December 10.

That's a bit sad. Hardly surprising though, we don't really know how long this is going to last and the state isn't just going to magically reopen next Wed, it'll have to be a staged opening.

:D

Just add me to the other 1.7 million South Australians who got it wrong.

I wonder if the squad will still be going interstate.
