Not a massive surprise. From a wider perspective I find it disappointing that he’s packing it in for a Saudi payday at 27.

Very disappointed by this, I would say he's given up on the Socceroos by going there.Im sure the money is good but is this move going to be better or worse for him getting socceroo games or the dream Euro move?Goodwin set to head to Saudi Arabia.
Money would have been too good to refuse. Wonder if that means Troisi will come in ??
1 or 2 seasons of obscurity and then back to the A-league...
You could understand Isaias going at his age, but Craig should have been looking to put in a stellar season here next year, cement a NT spot and then the move back to Europe would've been very much on the cards.

Re: Who's signed for next season
We just have to be there when he wants to come home. I guess earning well over 4 times what he was here was enough to tempt him.
Would be for most of us I guess.
No doubt we knew it was on the cards though and it'll give us some cash to play with.

Sign of the times for most Aussie players I reckon. If you're not earning top dollar or winning trophies as an Aussie, then you're likely to end up in Asia earning huge money. Not a massive surprise. From a wider perspective I find it disappointing that he’s packing it in for a Saudi payday at 27.

Disappointing to see him go, especially to a place like Saudi Arabia.
Hopefully we use our 5th visa spot on a winger (Assuming we’ll use our 3rd spot on Alberg and our 4th on a striker).

Am I the only person who thinks Kitto will play left back this season?Goodwin set to head to Saudi Arabia.

Kitto and Nikola can do the job.

Re: Who's signed for next season
Its not the end of the world to be honest.
We have the visa spots and the club has shown a willingness to reinvest transfer money back into the squad. So goodwiin definantly can be replaced but i would prefer he stayed.
If this transfer goes through we would have raked in approx 1.5 million in transfer fees. Its a sign we are well and truly doing something right.

Re: Who's signed for next season
Another player who disappears from my radar.
Oh well, that's the way of the world now days.
Hopefully we have cashed in on him but I would not be surprised if he had a buyer friendly buy out clause.
( @sub007, I also think Kitto will become our fixed rampaging left full / wing back this season. Let's see what happens. )

If nothing else, I am looking forward to seeing what Armiento can do with a proper crack at it.

Re: Who's signed for next season
According to Rob Greenwood, a Dutch LB/DM who has previously worked with Verbeek is arriving tomorrow.
The only free agent that Verbeek has worked with previously is Giliano Wijnaldum but according to transfermarkt, has never played DM. He's the brother of Georginio and the half brother of Huddersfield winger Rajiv van La Parra. The fact that he was only playing in the Ereste Divisie last season and was often an unused sub is extremely concerning.

$450k for Goody. Not a lot tbh but better than nothing.

Re: Who's signed for next season
Edit- out of the players I linked, Wijnaldum and Michael Maria (2 posts down) are the only ones that have actually played under Verbeek.
Giliano Wijnaldum (as mentioned already)- https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/giliano ... eler/79121
Wijnaldum actually played with Roland Alberg in Philadelphia for a season (2007) and both came through AZ Alkmaar youth teams together while Verbeek was coaching there.
The other possibility is that this player is still "contracted" but is "free to seek employment elsewhere" at which time he would become a free agent.

Re: Who's signed for next season
Given the importance of left backs in most dutch styled teams i would expect this player to be signed as a lb not dm. There currently are no stand out aussie left backs to choose from
I can already hear “wijnaaaaaaldum being screamed from by brenton speed”

Re: Who's signed for next season
Could be this guy-
Michael Maria
https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/michael ... ler/308356
Played for Verbeek before, played LB and DM, contract ending in a couple of months and not playing much at his current club.
Has played more professional minutes under Verbeek than any other coach.

Re: Who's signed for next season
Given we have shown an interest in paying a fee, and we have some.money in the kitty after losing Goody, I don't think we need to be looking purely at free agents.
