Pablo has signed for Llagostera. The club is from the Catalan region and just got relegated from the Segunda to Segunda B. This season they play Barca B, Valencia B and Villarreal B sides among others.

Highlights a bit on a conundrum for many of the european players who come here.

Take the risk in australia and possibly forge a career in lucrative asia or not get offered a new contract and fall off the map in Europe, although pablo surely had offers from other clubs.

Segunda b is a big step down from where pablo left spain.

I don't think it is a big step down, his career before he came here was split between Segunda and Segunda B, more of it in Segunda B. Given his age it is hardly surprising that he would end up in the league below where he left.

Cirio was playing Segunda B before he came to Adelaide and even had a season in the Tercera division a few years earlier.

I agree. He's basically gone back to where he left. Although he's obviously got to work himself back into regular game time like he had before he left for AU.
The next visa signing has big shoes to fill.

The point being pablo was first team at a segunda club. He came here and unlike other imports did not get a second contract (apart from hus extension on his already one year contract) that was more lucrative which could possibly have put a road block in his career back home.

Now playing in segunda b and likely just a squaddie. It shows there can be a downside to leaving europe for asia as you may fall off the map back home.

Not that im saying pablo regrets coming here. I hope aufc was some of his favourite years as a pro.

Tell me about it.

We have a fantastic ability to offload prolific or leading goal scorers like they are going out of fashion.

I understand why jero, serg and pablo were all let go but there is a bit of a pattern emerging.

From a google translation of an interview from his new clubs website

How are your soccer experiences abroad?

-These Last two years have been an experience in Australia. Being away from family is hard but personal experience has been very good sport. The first year we won the Cup and last year the League and Play Off. Is a football that is growing a lot, even at the level of the American League. Played there two years and allowed me to do well able to sign for a club like Llagostera, which I'm very proud.
