Bruce Djite Retires - Appreciation Thread
Bruce announced his retirement last night.
I know opinions have been divided on him in this forum but I don't think anyone can fault him for his efforts, leadership and loyalty.
Thanks for the memories Bruce!

Legend. He may have been equal parts brilliant and frustrating, but those precious moments can never be taken away from him. A big part of some big games in our clubs history. Thanks for everything Bruce and best wishes for your next career.
(How nice is it to be able to talk about "our club's history", after so many years of hearing that the A-league and its clubs have no history.)

Bruce will always be remembered as a loyal club man, a gentleman and a leader. Unbelievable work-rate and never ducked for cover. He may be remembered for goal droughts as much as goal fests but what we would have given to have him on the pitch this year in the form he left us with.
Best of luck for the future Bruce, even if I doubt you'l need much luck.
As Otto says, a big part of our growing (and glowing) history.

Quite possibly the most articulate footballer to ply their trade in the A-League.
I am looking forward to see what he gets up to next.

One of the all time greats of the club and the competition.
It says a lot that the A-League is still trying to market itself as a new beginning. Meanwhile some players have had professional debuts, long distinguished careers and subsequently retired since it's inception.(How nice is it to be able to talk about "our club's history", after so many years of hearing that the A-league and its clubs have no history.)

Unpopular opinion alert...
How many of bruces biggest fans boo’d him when he played for gold coast and scored against us in the elimination final. Even bruce was disappointed post match. Some people's memories seem to operate via a pendulum.
In any case, Bruce is a club hero and hopefully we are able to keep articulate and educated people like him around the club for many more years.

Bruce retires, Baba returns.
I'm not saying they're the same person, but have you ever seen them share a room before?

Bruce "Destruction in the Box" Djite, you are my favourite AU striker of all time.
Fearless, hard working, committed to the cause and to keep believing in yourself during that year long goal drought.... well, that just showed intestinal fortitude of the highest order.
Thanks for the memories Brucie

Had the privilege to be present for a couple of his guest talks at corporate events. Nicest bloke and having seen him twice in two very different environments, he showed his ability to read a crowd and adjust to their needs.
Frustrated me immensely on the field at times but that’s sport and passion. The man he is off the pitch is something to behold.
Congratulations on a great career and look forward to see what he does in the future for football.
