Re: Great Youtube Video from Spain about ADELAIDE UNITED
Cool vision, but it would be great to know what they had to say about the club. The only words I managed to pick out were "Kosmina", "Romario" and "Football Club Barcelona".

Re: Great Youtube Video from Spain about ADELAIDE UNITED
Here is my understanding of the video
A little more than one month ago on 19 October 2018 the new a league season started, being the highest level of football in Australia. For me personally, the A-League is a competition that I like a lot and has a . Today we speak about Adelaide United, which was one of the foundation teams in the A-League. They are based in the city of Adelaide situated in the south of Australia.
It was founded in 2003, in order to cover the lack of a team from Adelaide in the NSL When this competition finished it became one of the three teams that entered the new A-League. Three of the most important achievements of Adelaide United are the league champions in 2016 which they achieved by beating Western Sydney 3-1 in the play off, its first major championship in the league, plus it has won the FFA cup in 2014 and 2018.
When it was founded in 2003 Adelaide finished third in its debut year in the regular season and made it to the semi-final playoff for the title. As a difference to Adelaide City, founded by the Italian community, this club is not tied to any specific community.
At that time the FFA reorganised itself and created the league championship from zero with new teams limited to one team in each city. Adelaide United was one of the three teams admitted from the old NSL. In its first year the coach chosen was Kosmina whilst the Chinese player Shengqing Qu was the first marquee player.
In order to attract the local public, the following year they signed the Brazilian world cup winner Romario, for a special contract to appear in only 4 games. The results were positive, in the season 2005-6 they finished leaders in the regular season, although in the finals the fell in the semi-finals. In 2007 they were proclaimed the winners of the pre-season cup, second in the regular season and sub champions after losing in the grand final to Newcastle Jets. With the arrival on the bench of ex international Aurelio Vidmar Adelaide United was able to put in a good performance in the Asian Champions League in 2008 being the first Australian team to reach the final in the Asian Continent.. In the final they lost to the Japanese representative Gamba Osaka. That same year in 2008 the club also participated in the Club World Cup. Subsequently, in 2009 they finished second in the regular season and lost 1-0 to Melbourne Victory in the final. Vidmar was sacked the following year due to a series of bad results, The board recruited for the season 2013-14 a Spanish technical team with as Gombau as boss and Marti as assistant. The following year Guillermo Amor was named Technical Director. With the change they intended to follow the model and style of FC Barcelona. The first title arrived in December 2014, in the first edition of the FFA Cup, beating Perth Glory 1-0 in the final.
Four years later, in 2018, they won their second FFA Cup, beating Sydney FC 2-1 in the final.
Adelaide United plays its home games in Coopers Stadium also known as Hindmarsh Stadium. The ground holds a maximum of 16,500 spectators and is specifically used for football games. Although it was built in 1960, it has been upgraded over the years with the last big upgrade in 2004 when the club then used it exclusively. In the cases where the clubs requires more room, it uses the city’s main stadium, Adelaide Oval, with a capacity of 53,000.
Nevertheless, the most important games, such as the final of the ACL 2008, were played at Coopers Stadium. The clubs most intense rivalry is with Melbourne Victory. Adelaide United has several of fan groups with the one that is most known being the Red Army.
Merry Christmas
