We played a lot of awful long balls in the first half but they were clearly cut out as the game continued. The general passing also got better as the game continued. Hopefully as the players get more familiar with each other the passing will get better and the use of long balls will improve dramatically. Gulum was particularly bad at the long balls, high, wide and out of play, but his runs through the middle were good and exciting. In a few weeks when he gets fully fit he is going to massive for us.Marco said in his post-match that he always goes for the win, he never settles for a draw.
An interesting stat is passes completed. So far this looks, on average, to be lower than previous years and reflects the Marco Kurz approach.

He might not have the same pizazz as Josep but it's nice to have an animated and outwardly passionate coach on the sidelines again

So Aloisi thinks our fitness is a myth. Got really narky about it during his presser which I found funny.
It might be a myth but it creates a mindset.

There is a real intensity about him, that did not seem like pure happiness or excitement. He might not have the same pizazz as Josep but it's nice to have an animated and outwardly passionate coach on the sidelines again

Ill re-phrase Aloisi:Man he was salty! So Aloisi thinks our fitness is a myth. Got really narky about it during his presser which I found funny.

"They're not super fit, they were just fitter than us. They only ran over the top of us because, although I have had 6 months, I haven't properly prepared my team for the first few games. I know I picked players that weren't fit. None of this was my fault of course, they should have been fit. One of them hasn't played for about 2 years, many are old, and some are not that fit, so I thought we deserved to win. If you don't agree, my bro' Ross will deal with you."
Go figure.

Yeah going by his talk post-game. He wouldn't have been satisfied with anything less than a win given the performance. There is a real intensity about him, that did not seem like pure happiness or excitement. He might not have the same pizazz as Josep but it's nice to have an animated and outwardly passionate coach on the sidelines again
I think we're right to expect even more from this squad. It's clear he does!
Time to Djbate!

Smash and grab indeed! The fitness is showing, just gotta lock down defence early. I'm excited!Round two.
Come on United!
I'll be happy with a point but a smash and grab would be grand.

hopefully the fitness does not carry over to more over use injuries.
I think we have that extra bit of match fitness similar to when we competed in acl during the offseason and hit the start of the league hard.
Im sure the staff know what their doung
though and only put loads on the players that they can recover and adapt from
