Confederations Cup 2017
Germany 3-2 Australia
OK.
We put two past the Germans.
Cameroon 1-0 Australia.
Half time.
Cameroon score in the very last seconds of the half.
Long ball that the defender, Degenek, failed to deal with and Matt Ryan was in no mans land neither here nor there.
Bloody poor!

Leckie looks like he needs a holiday.
Kruse is playing like a man without a club.
No imagination.
No penetration.
To slow going from defense to attack.

Ange: back 3 makes us more attacking.
5 shots for us to 18 for Cameroon.
New formation is a stinker. Players can't play it.
Ange out Gomby in.

To me Ange just comes across as arrogant and stubborn. I'm sick of his attitude when he talks to the media and represents our country.

Re: Confederations Cup 2017
We played well against the Germans who were looking to play a more open game ( excluding the start of the game.
This game was totally different, Cameroon were happy to sit back and break , do they ever break!!! The speed of some of their players is insane , they are world class athletes.
I don't mind a anges formation tbh, but when we have a team who is happy to sit back our wide players need to be a constant threat and they weren't.
My only gripe with Ange is how kruse continually gets minutes, has Andy Harper converted him to the kruse appreciation club ?

Oh also , if we had 2 more sainburys at the back then our back three would be imposing , ball playing cb is needed in this formation

Confederations Cup 2017
Played well against Germany?
Played pretty average IMO and lost to German's third tier.
I don't consider myself a slouch and I could name maybe 1 or 2 of their players.

Yeah agreed. To me Ange just comes across as arrogant and stubborn. I'm sick of his attitude when he talks to the media and represents our country.
Would love for Gomby to take us to the WC.
He'd get the squad playing for him.

We were a constant threat in the second. Half and played good football.Played well against Germany?

They may be a second string team but they are all top division players with big futures. We only have a sprinkling of top division players

Re: Confederations Cup 2017
I'm just happy that the results have appear competitive. If we don't concede from a pass back to the penalty spot like we did against Germany and should have against Cameroon, I'll be happy!

Re: Confederations Cup 2017
I don't think the Confed cup has been disastrous by any means. But by the same token, it's still 1 point from 2 games for a team that has talked the talk about winning the cup (A realistic if extremely difficult goal.)
The surprising thing to me is that the much-discussed formation is currently living and dying by the random up and down performances of the midfield and not the defensive fragility or previously limp attack. And also that for the first time ever an Australian side's apparent best hope against strong opposition is for the game to be a high-scoring shootout.
I'd feel more happy about the state of the national team were WC qualification assured and if there were adequate options for the the seemingly scheduled Rogic/Juric substitutions and/or an alternate formation to use to the replacement players to have a positive affect.

I have not heard one person discuss Australia winning the tournament. I think winning was always very unrealistic.

Re: Confederations Cup 2017
The Socceroos have continued their poor form in this tournament. They have been thrashed in both games as far as general play and chances created. There has been a weak defense, poor passing and no ability to attack on display. A similar performance against Chile should see the Socceroos lose by at least 5 goals unless they like Germany and Cameron show terrible finish in front of goal.
