One month out from the game. Too early for advertising I assume however now the GF is finished I expect they will begin to ramp it up.

I have my tickets! I'm very excited, my first competitive Socceroos match for about 10 years.
It'll be a very interesting crowd. With it being such a crunch match I expect a large interstate turn out, which is great as these matches will be viewed as excellent tourism for SA.

Yes, this is our crunch game, particularly as we can't bank on points in Japan. I expect a lot of people turning up for this one.

Between Adelaide United and the Socceroos, Adelaide Oval has hosted some pretty decent crowds.

True. Another good crowd here is more evidence an increase in the size of Coopers would see an increase in attendances there IMO.

I'm interested to see Hrustic. There are some big wraps on him. If Gombau rates him he must be good!

I am far than sure that McGowan's position is well deserved when Wilkinson does not make the squad. He was better last season than this season so the timing is a bit strange.

I guess Ange is looking to the future as McGowan is 8 years younger than Wilkinson.
Although Ange talks about selecting players who are playing then picks Sainsbury who is still yet to play for Inter. Same goes for Kruse. How does someone play 4 club matches this year, who then gets cut by his club warrant a call up?

Kruse was not cut by his club, he and Holland left because the club was not playing their wages.

However I would cut him from the 23 man squad because of his lack of game time, his terrible last couple of games for the Socceroos and we are playing a formation without wingers.

Sainsbury is our best CB, other than perhaps Spiranovic who has put himself out of contention by being in the Chinese 2nd division. He played well against UAE and I would be starting him against Saudi Arabia, it is a risk, but I think he might be a player who can do well even when not playing much.

As far as McGowan vs Wilkinson, the future is one thing but when playing a must win game the best players should be selected.

How are ticket sales progressing? We need a big crowd for this one.

That's true although it may be that Ange wants to have a look at him and doesn't plan to play him. He's well aware of what Wilkinson offers.

There is a strong argument that Wilkinson should be starting against Saudi Arabia given his experience and recent form.

I think Ange could do worse. He needs to play players who are playing regularly.

Difficult to say as Degenek, Wright and Ryan McGowan have all been playing regularly away from our regular viewing so may well be showing the form and the smarts to outshine Wilkinson. Also if Ange is looking to push forwards and play a back three then Wilkinson may get exposed for pace.

It would not have been an easy call however he made it.

I would be starting Sainsbury, Jedinak and Wilkinson as the back three against Saudia Arabia. Wright and Degenek were very poor against UAE in the last match, Sainsbury was better than both of them despite not having played for months. Jedinak was brilliant in the last 10 minutes against Iraq when he dropped back and played as if he was a CB and has been playing there for Aston Villa. He has always looked like he could be a CB but had not really played there, now he is at club level he can do so for the Socceroos. Wilkinson is a known entity, he would play better than Wright and Degenek did in the last match.
