AUFC NPL Season 2017
Well this season hasn't even finished but planning has apparently already begun for 2017.
Apparently AU are pushing to be able to field a reserves side again next season.
I think there is a decent chance of them getting it considering the steps the club has taken in the past year to re-engage the local leagues. Taking back operational responsibility of the Lady Reds is a big boost. I think the United Club initiative is going to be a big help as well.
More interesting times ahead!

From the outside looking in, theres definitely been more engagement which is good to see.
If Grant and Kovacevic could get a full academy going and set up teams in all grades in the next few years, then that would be a huge achievement.

I'm sure Kovacevic has some involvement. But I don't think Grant does. The board of the AUMC inc is different to the AU HAL club board. From the outside looking in, theres definitely been more engagement which is good to see.

Not AU but a massive signing for the local league.

So the squad age will be 16-20. Happy to see the side is able to have far more planning going into this season.

Fixtures are out for the NPL season.
It appears AU will not have a reserves side again this season.
With the inclusion of more sides again this (and I'm pretty sure next season), hopefully future seasons will have more than 22 rounds which just isn't anywhere near enough. To have the season finish for many clubs in early August is a joke IMO. Especially if the FFSA want clubs to compete in the FFA Cup. Clubs that miss out on finals will be more than struggling for match fitness come the time to play FFA Cup games.

http://www.adelaidenow.com.au/messenger ... d7cfaa168aOut: Dylan Smith (Adelaide City), Zack Gomez (Adelaide Blue Eagles), Johnny Koutroumbis (Newcastle Jets), Ruon Tongyik (Melbourne City), Clifford Mania, Thomas Stokes (released)
Where the players that left from last season went.
It would be nice if more of the younger HAL players could be involved in the side.
O'Doherty, McGree, Mells, Ochieng and Hall could all do with much more game time.
This IMO is exactly where the game is failing the next generation of players. How is any of these kids supposed to improve playing than 10 -20 games per season?
Its no wonder Australia's youth sides are failing to compete with even the "second tier" nations in Asia when so many kids are stuck in limbo. A token effort summer youth tournament and restrictive rules on player involvement locally hinder player development terribly, IMO the answer isn't more HAL clubs (although that wouldn't hurt) its allowing squads to stay together for longer periods and play as many games a possible.
AU may as well loan the players I mentioned out to other NPL clubs for the winter. Which is I'm sure what the other NPL clubs want which is why there is undoubtedly pressure from them to restrict AU's NPL squad so heavily.
I understand the FFSA want the NPL SA to be as competative as possible which is why I agree there should be some restrictions placed on AU. But the current situation is clearly hindering the development of the states highest rated talent.
