Pim Verbeek has passed away.
Pim Verbeek, the Dutch soccer manager who guided Australia to the 2010 World Cup, has died at the age of 63 after a four-year battle with cancer.

A win and a draw but it was not enough to get the Socceroos out of the group and into the knock out stage.

That 4-0 hammering from Germany in the first game did us in.
I invited family and friends over for the game and the best thing that day was the bbq.

I was a large critic of the fact he took the second oldest squad to the WC after Italy (who bombed out in the first round too). But the fact he's the first coach to take Australia to the WC thru the Asian route is massive (on our first attempt too) I think the knowledge the Socceroos set up would have on each nation from a footballing sense as well as a logistical sense would be massive now in comparison.
