Maybe we just want to do it the hard way.
Beat Japan and the Saudis and go through on goal difference.

Playoff here we come. And it's deserved. If we can't beat China and Oman whose qualification is all but over then we don't deserve any higher than third.

Going to be a tough ask.
It's been coming ever since the China game.

I watched the Japan v Saudi game and the Japanese in particular have really hit their stride. I can't see either losing to Vietnam or China which we'd need to happen even if we defeated both of them.

Vietnam downed China 3-1 which would have gone down rather well in Hanoi, less so Beijing.

UAE are looking the most likely play-off opponents, though Lebanon are still in with a decent chance of making third..

Very disappointing.

Am I allowed to say that I didn’t think Oman’s last minute equaliser was actually a penalty? I thought our player got the ball?
Agree but hard to overturn once given.

If we are good enough however those moments don't really matter.

I see Slater has launched into Bozza for daring to suggest GA should be held accountable should we not automatically qualify, despite Slater saying exactly the same regarding Ange in 2017.

The "Old Boys Club" seems to be getting a little frayed at the edges.

Haha what a shambles that was.

I remember calling for Ange to go myself. Ange is undoubtedly a brilliant coach at club level but his "win playing attractive Ange-ball" doesn't work for a nation like Australia and infuriated me when he was trying to play attractive football in cut throat work cup qualifiers. I was glad to see him go because he wasn't right for us.

Arnold also needs to go but for completely different reasons than Ange. He's proven he can't cut it at international level before, showed no signs this time around that he's capable, he couldn't cut it overseas in another league and apart from taking an A-League club to a few titles (which heaps of rubbish coaches have done - Steve Corica for e.g.) he's done sweet FA.

He's tactically rubbish and only got some success with CCM by playing boring defensive football that managed to get the better of the league once Ange left.

Get rid of him asap.

GA is something of a flat-track bully who was well protected by his mates at Fox.

As much as I didn't like the bloke, Muscat is doing well in Japan.

Muscat is doing quite well, which has surprised me. However he seems to have just followed Ange around in his managerial career thus far. I'd be interested to see if he can implement the same system at a completely new club and get the same outcome.

Should we tell the Celtic faithful now or let them discover their next coach in their own time?

I missed all the fall out from the last WC qualifiers.
Any links to the Boz and Slater stoush?

Ruka is now the highest scoring foreigner in Israel with a brace overnight. Couple of quality finishes for his goals too.

Pity he's never really been given a chance at international level. I would much rather have him leading the line than Jamie McLaren.
