Matildas coach Alen Stajcic has been sacked only months before the FIFA Women's World Cup following a damning review of the national team's workplace culture
When the players' union suggested Football Federation Australia conduct a review into the welfare of Matildas players, they hoped to simply improve workplace standards around games, training loads and recovery periods. Two months later, that review spiralled into the shock sacking of coach Alen Stajcic.
As the fallout from Football Federation Australia’s termination of Alen Stajcic’s contract is absorbed, there are more questions than answers.
Gallop said the decision to terminate the employment of Stajcic, who was dismissed by FFA on Saturday following an internal review into the culture of the national women’s football team, came after the situation “deteriorated” recently.
But he offered no further details due to the confidential nature of the survey, which began after the Tournament of Nations in July.
Or.Oi you, you fat prick / bitch / bastard, loose some bloody weight, you look like a slag heap ... For fucks sake where the fuck do you think you are..?
How would we like coaches to address our daughters and sons?Fellow professional / mate, we need to check your BMI because we feel you need to do some extra work. It seems that you were not responsible enough.
You do realise this may also impact on your selection ...
https://www.theguardian.com/+ootball/20 ... as-sackingAn emotional Alen Stajcic has broken his silence in a bid to clear his name and restore his reputation following weeks of what he termed “innuendo and speculation” over the reasons behind his sacking as Matildas coach.
Stajcic released a statement overnight before facing the media on Monday morning to give his side of the story after he claimed in an open letter to the Australian football community that the saga has left his reputation ruined.
FFA board chairman Chris Nikou said the board disagreed with a number of Stajcic’s comments — and said the former coach had previously described the Matildas team environment as “dysfunctional.”
Ante Milicic, the former Socceroos assistant coach, has been named as the man to guide the Matildas out of the ongoing political fallout from the sacking of Alen Stajcic and into the World Cup in France later this year.
Football Federation Australia on Monday confirmed Milicic, who has no previous experience in women’s football but a wealth in the men’s game, as the team’s new head coach after Stajcic left the post last month in controversial circumstances.

No disrespect to Milicic but has the FFA got any bloody idea what they are doing?
Considering it's WC year and all that.
Splash the cash and get someone who has been there and done that in the woman's game.
A real chance goes begging again with arguably our most talented and experienced woman's national squad.
For example, lure Silvia Neid out of retirement, she is only 54.
Throw some money at her, promise her a big Aussie adventure.
Neid has won every damn thing at club and national level as player and as manager.
A six month / one year contract would do it.
( FFS, we all remember what happened when the men got Guus Hiddink for a WC.)
This shows to me how chicken shit the FFA really is.
New heads, same crap.
