Socceroos v Denmark

Postby shinAUFC Sun Jun 17, 2018 8:00 pm

Hoping to see a team more willing to attack and dominate the game against the Danes

We have mids and wingers who absolutely can trouble the Danes.

Certainly not saying we put it all on the line and attack at all costs. However is we play as defensive as we did against france we are inviting them in and hoping defenders play a blinder.

Totally understand why we played the way we did against france, but we need to look to win the next 2 matches with our creative players, not defenders.

We can still attack while being cautious, just need some more positivity.

Agree, this is a match we should be setting up to try and win by attacking. If we keep the same resolve and play a bit more attacking still then a win is a real possibility.

I hope Denmark and France win and we are eliminated from the World Cup. I am so fucking pissed off with the whole situation now, just smash us Denmark, 5-0 or something like that will do very nicely.

A win tonight puts a lot of pressure on Denmark. I'd like to see Luongo in action tonight. Apart from that the starting line-up can look fairly similar. Jedinak may not be the man to hold Eriksen, however his height will be needed to defend set pieces. Perhaps a swap of Milligan and Jedinak, with the former having the role of containing Eriksen.

Surprised nabbout is starting , he ran himself to death a few days ago.

Unchanged line up suggests we are not looking to play, would have played luongo in mid rather than jedinak.

Nabbout was a bit of a surprise up front, done a few nice things but overall perhaps not done enough.

Leckie has been brilliant, Kruse not to bad either although he probably wasted a great chance when he did not shot first time. Rogic excellent. Mooy and Sainsbury not producing their France but neither terrible. Jedinak is doing well, passing well.

I am a bit worried the Denmark have a goal or three left in them, but we are doing well, definitely got a bit on top as the half continued.

The way the game is set I could see Arzani and Cahill doing well in the last half an hour.

The win is there for the taking, just need to be a bit tighter at the back and find a free player for a shot.

Our manager doesnt believe in his players imo.

Kruse should have been pulled at half time , nabbout is doing a defensive job but we need goals.

Totally understand being measured and not throwing the kitchen sink into every attack but rogic is in form , leckie has been fantastic and arzani also. Lets work to find these three space !

A draw and I think we should have won although Denmark did have some good chances as well.

Still everything is far from lost with France Peru to come.
If France beats Peru then Peru are out and might be easier with nothing to play for.
If Peru beats France then the group would be
Denamrk 4
France Peru 3
Australia 1

So if we beat Peru, then Denmark and France cannot both get more points than us, so it would come down to goal difference.

Bert van Marwijk has done a brilliant job of getting the team organised and also playing good attacking football. We just lack some clinical finishing in front of goal. Nabbout has shown it a bit in the A-league but he just was unable to get free to have shots against better quality defences. Unfortunately if he had not injured his shoulder he had perhaps his best chance to get free heading to goal.

Might as well start Arzani against Peru, what is there to lose? He showed something when he came on. Juric will almost certainly start with Nabbouts injury. Perhaps Cahill has a chance to come on.
