0-0 which is a result that suits both sides and they looked like they played that way near the end. I think 3rd place was a realistic result now we wait to see who we take on!
Great Britain. We will need to be careful with White as she is good at suckering in the ref, particularly in and around the box.

One for the ages, that's for sure.

Great to see Mary Fowler bag her first goal. Not a bad time to do it!

Heartbreak.

Still confused as to why our goal didn't stand. Poor officiating not to at least check in with VAR.

Pretty ridiculous decision but the ref was paying very cheap frees all game I feel. We had a few frees in dangerous positions that we didn't deserve. Has VAR made a single call this Olympics? I've not seen one thing referred

Canada's winner to put them through to the gold medal playoff came from a VAR penalty.

Can't recall much else to be fair though.

Matildas 18 Indonesia 0

That’s quite a start in the Asian Cup.
Next up the mighty Phillipines.
(Hopefully more of a contest.)

Hopefully, I am not sure the Matilda's got much out of this match. Players like Kerr, Raso, van Egmond & Carpenter should have been pulled at half-time to give some of the fringe players some meaningful minutes. Not much sense in risking your stars and making them work when you are already 9-0 up going into the sheds for the break.

Crazy to think if we weren't hosting the 2023 WC we would have missed out on a spot.

Heads need to roll.

Hugely disappointing. Something is wrong.
Have we relied on the old guard too long?
Are the youngsters coming through not as good as we thought?
Is it a failure of skill, or fitness, or tactics, or teamwork, or just plain grit?
