As long as it is not Graham Arnold. Despite his successes at CCM and Sydney FC, I just don’t like the bloke’s character. Would find it hard wishing the best for the national team while at the same time hoping to see Arnold fail - I would be so conflicted!
He has publically withdrawn from the race. My guess is that he is eyeing Qatar 2022 or there is a lucrative club gig in the works.

Either way I am happy as GA doesn't have a fantastic record once he leaves Australia. I'd like to see him prove his mettle elsewhere before being offered the reins of the national team.

I think Arnold would want the full experience including the whole qualifying thing.
Fair enough.

And the winner is van Marwijk. I am very pleased with that choice.

On paper its a good appointment.

The thing that puzzles me is each manager FFA appoint has a totally different style to the man he replaces.

Results are the end goal but i feel like we need to have an expectation as to how our national team plays and only then find a manager within those parameters.

I hope we have the intention to play rather than hope for our opponents to make an error, the only time the roos have looked like they are worthy of being a wc nation is when managers allow us to attack in some way.

Hiddink was measured but backed the players , ange backed the boys and did not get the results but certainly played like a football country at the last wc particularly against the dutch.

Holger and and pim made us look like timid nupties

No farewell game at home. I think its better for the team, especially the European based players. That must hurt the FFAs pocket though, a couple of Roo's games right before Russia would bring in a fair bit in ticket sales and merchandise you'd think.
