If they were serious about winning the thing why did they do something as stupid as making 8 changes?

B)
Would have to be resting players due to the short turnaround and also with the SK game in mind.

Regardless of the changes, we should have won comfortably.
Fair enough, but it does come across as careless to me.
I seems smarter to qualify and then rest players but what do i know... :D

"I don't know where we get the expectation of easy games and just thinking that we're going to win these games at youth level," Milicic told AAP from China.
"(The Vietnam team has) been together for a long time and a few years back, that same group played against Australia and won 5-1.

After reading these quotes I am even more perplexed as to why he still made 8 changes to the team.

KOR 2-0 AUS

Half time.

I think the plan is not working.

KOR 3 - AUS 1

Australia dominate the second half.
Chance after chance after chance.
Korea have one chance at the 65min and they score.

As I write Australia hit the cross bar...

Was this the arrangement?
National team blows it and the players go back to their clubs after three games?

Should I put my tinfoil hat on?

As I continue to ponder this post Australia get one back.

I watched till HT then fell asleep. I'm proud the lads fought back. It was a tough group for them and they certainly showed they weren't outclassed much of the tournament.

Hopefully this places the side in good stead for the Olympic qualifiers which are the games that really matter!

Toure is named for the qualifiers in January. Fortunately for us, GA has yet to discover D'Arrigo.

Don't get me wrong I hope they do well, but at the same time who really cares?

Any player who is playing consistent first team football like Toure should be playing for their club not in a tournament playing against other kids who are not good enough to play football against grown men.

Most of Japan or Sth Korea's best U23 players will be playing club football right now and not in a mickey mouse under 23 tournament.

Just my 2C's, but I think youth squads should help players progress, if a player is already good enough to play at a higher level and already is playing regularly don't take them away from that environment.

With that said, Im looking forward to the game tonight.

huge result.
I agree in aprt with Shin, however the experience of a tournament away with the boys, camp environment can only help the young lads.

Tough one as these double as qualifiers for the Olympics.

In all I prefer these tournaments to be played mid-year, though appreciate the timing of the Olympics makes it impractical in this instance.
huge result
Certainly in the context of the group as Iraq drew with Bahrain. We just need to not lose by 3 goals in the Bahrain game to progress.

It was a game of two halves though, Thailand were all over us in the beginning.
