For a 6-0 win the Olyroos were thoroughly unimpressive, created very few chances and only won because the opposition was worse than horrible.

Another big win but given the opposition should have been expected.

As long as the lads don't lose to Myanmar they will qualify for the AFC U23 championships. Although even if they do lose narrowly they'll still be a good chance of making the tournament as the top 5 second placed sides qualify as well.

That's the beauty of the HAL that so many of these kids get to play in front of us for so long.
Most are not even close to being considered for Socceroos but are already well known generally in the footballing community.
Surely that's got to be a boost for engaging the mainstream community with future Socceroos.

There is a few missing from the current squad that are players of the future. Antonis, Ikonomidis and Armenakas off the top of my head.

So the lads have qualified. 5-1 win over Myanmar who were the 2nd strongest side in the group.

So that means Australia makes the AFC U23 Championships in Qatar next year in January and the top three placed sides qualify for the Olympics!

Pretty decent squad there.
Nice to see the euro lads coming in. Especially Degenek who I think has been of interest to Croatia, who he can also represent.

Would have thought mabil could have got a selection, though i suppose its best for him to work on getting minutes in denmark.

If he was in the squad and the club let him go then that probably would be more worrying.

I was thinking the same thing but I thought he really hasn't played much football for sometime. Plus I think he's in the U20 squad age bracket.

First game was a win in Turkey 1-0, second was a lose in Macedonia 3-1. Nice to see Taggart back on the scoresheet.
Apparently Awer was in the squad.

14 January 2016
Australia V United Arab Emirates

17 January 2016
Vietnam V Australia

20 January 2016
Jordan V Australia
Draw for the AFC U23 championship has been announced.
Not a terrible group. UAE should be the toughest test.

This tournament is also qualifying for the 2016 Olympics. The two nations that make the final and the third place play off winner all make it to Rio.
