Why is it that every other country from our confederation look timid and frail once they play at the world cup but during qualifying they look dynamic.

I can only think of the japan / sth korea world cup in recent memory where another asian team has looked half decent in the group stages.

Exactly what I was thinking. We have been the standout for the Asian confederation IMO.

Australia always lift for the big games though so perhaps that has something to do with it.

I think every country has a very unique characteristic specific to them, with us i feel it seems to be that no matter how highly rated our players are or what leagues they come from they will show no fear and have a red hot go.

The fact that we finally have a manager again (since hiddink) that understands this is a major bonus.

Japan is easily the best country in Asia with some truly world class players but they tend to do SFA when the world cup comes along

The italy uruguay was such a grubby game i dont know why i expected better.

The Italians were not interested in dong much apart from lating on the ground or trying to break up play.

The ref had it in for balotelli lol it was almost as if he would blow the whistle in anticipation that balotelli would do something

The italian defenders were throwing elbows and feigning injury. They got what they deserved with the red card.

I want those 2 hours of my life back, terrible game
