I felt we were fairly unlucky. A number of very good chances created that should have been converted. We could have easily been 4-1 up at HT.
Still not enough to offer me hope of progressing but as I've said hopefully the signs are there that we'll be competitive in the Asian Cup on home soil.

Australia v South Africa
After watching that, I think if we can score a goal in the WC it will be an achievement.
SA, a team not playing in the WC, with all their outs, jetlagged, away from home drew with us. And our goal was arguably a goal keeping error. I agree we created some good chances though.
It's such a fresh team that has potential but these guys should have been blooded ages ago - can only blame Holger for that.
Still, think that with another 6 months together, we will be a force in the Asian Cup.

Re: Australia v South Africa
I cannot believe how some people have already turned on postecoglou based on one performance.
3 of our best players who all play top flight football are injured and out of the world cup.
Most have barely played 90 minutes for the socceroos previously let alone have world cup experience.
People are expecting Postecoglou to create a positive playing style and get this new squad up to speed within a few training camps. Basically everything that should have been done since 2006 is now expected of him in 3 months.
Many of our players have not even played since then A-league finals so they are not match fit.
Expecting results from the World Cup is very ignorant IMO, We will no longer be the little engine that could and grind out a 1-0 victory over top countries in the world by riding our luck and sitting back to defend.
Instead people should see this as new beginning and preparation for the World Cup in 4 years time.
Having said all that, there is still plenty to work on, Jedinak NEEDS to be fit and we need a good CB pairing but this is our biggest weakness.
Leckies speed and muscle will surprise defenders on more then 1 occasion though, we will have our chances.

That's the tough thing about NT football. All the players play differing styles and the coach never gets his players together week in week out. He's had the equivalent of a month of preseason and a couple friendlies with them.

Yeah and then they go back to their clubs where each coach has a different game plan.
Tough gig.
