Inevitable.
Former AU boss takes the reigns as interim coach.
Hopefully this will also mean a clean out of Carney, Wilkshire, North, McKay, Neill and all the other dead wood.

Holger was far to young to coach the roo's to be fair lol.
Carney.... what in the actual fuck ???! cannot even cut it in Uzbekistan still gets a game here and intentionally handballs in the box over his head??
After the 2006 world cup we should have been building a new squad and now look what we are left with, it is almost criminal.
Does anyone here think the socceroo's could even beat an inform A-league club? i very much doubt it

It's funny you should ask... as I was watching this morning, I thought to myself: any of the "better" a-leagues sides (on their day) would put up more of a fight than this lot!

100%!
The older generation could get away with still representing the roos when we were grinding out mindless 1-0 wins in asia. But now even if our next best crop of players are still playing under 18's atleast we know they cannot play any worse and can only get BETTER
The A-league is becoming so strong but the roo's impotent! how does that work ?:S
I like robbie slaters answer "years of neglect "
IMO postecgolou with be managing australia once the WC and Aleague is over.

The A-league isn't getting any better. It's the same as ever. The FFA just declare every year a Year Zero so it looks like it's sprung from nothing.
Osieck had to go, It's hard to win any matches when you're picking players who aren't playing anywhere except for the odd international. Ecuador/Chile/Uruguay's match in Jordan will be a good indicator of how good/bad Osieck was.

Ange set to be named as Aus head coach very soon.
MV didn't let Milsy follow his dreams, but they'll let Ange lel.
Not sure I'm keen on seeing a Soceroos lineup with Nicholls et al in it now.

Imo this is a good mood and is the best man for the job.
It MUST be seen as a long term position though as we have a very rocky 4 years ahead.

So it's confirmed. MV got screwed with the compensation payment - a reported $50k
I think he's a good coach and is particularly good at bringing youth in.
I'm looking forward to Carney, North, Neill et al being shown the door.
My biggest concern is we'll see Mitch Nicholls in there though
At the very least, Ange can't be any worse than Holger.

Great news. I love what he said to begin with as well.
"We'll focus on getting the best squad we can for the WC. From after that it's a focus on youth." This is something that should have happened right after the 2010 WC so we're running 4 years behind schedule. But better late then never. Our first appointed Australian coach since Cranky Franky.

So which of the old guard do we think we will never see for international duty again ?
Schwartzer
Kewell
Neil
Carney
Ognenovski
Kennedy
I think Cahill and Bresciano may be the only ones to survive.
We can finally look forward to some fresh faces and ideas representing our country. Just Imagine Rogic with the ball at his feet with Leckie Ruka and Kruse in front of him..... something to actually get excited for.

I actually have a renewed interest in the Socceroos now - one of Ange's best qualities is his blooding of youth.
Hope to see more of Leckie, Ruka et al.
Good move by FFA getting Costa Rica as our first friendly. Can't imagine them putting 6 past us.

Theres no way Kennedy has played his last game for the national team. There isn't a replacement with his skill (genetics) set and it's only 2 years since he was setting scoring records.
I can't see large tactical changes in the short term or tactics similar to his club sides in the long term. What will happen is the selection of actual left and right backs and probably at least one player to sit in the gaping void between the striker and the holding midfielders.
