Very positive news to start the lead up to our lads heading to Turkey.

Not super confident going forward to the WC based on our qualifying form. Hopefully Corey Gameiro is faring well for us!

The Qantas Young Socceroos completed their Australia-based preparations for the 2013 FIFA U20 World Cup in Turkey with a dominant 5-0 win over the Junior All Whites in an U-20 international friendly played at WIN Stadium in Wollongong today.

Certainly a positive result heading into the tournament. The article boasts that 15 players from the HAL make up the squad. This is something that seriously concerns me. 1. Surely if a kid is good enough to go to Europe he is worth a look at (Amini missing out a worry) 2. The most likely result that these kids playing in Europe have missed out is due to the FFA having bugger all in the way of scouts that are able to get out to see these kids player or even make regular contact with them.

This leads us to a sad state of affairs and the likelihood that more kids born and raised in Australia will feel forgotten by the FFA and will decide to play for the countries that their heritage got them to Europe on and we will all once again cry foul for losing talent we all know we can't afford to.

IMO its down to coaches picking what's under their noses and forgetting there are a lot of kids out there in Europe.

So we take on Colombia today. Definitely a tough start for the lads but if we are to progress these are the matches we must succeed in.

Campbelltown and Adelaide United get a heads up from the commentator when he introduces Paul Izzo
