Football Federation Australia (FFA) have confirmed that the Qantas Socceroos and Westfield Matildas have accepted invitations to participate in the East Asian Football Federation (EAFF) East Asia Cup 2013, with the qualifying tournaments to be held from 20-24 November 2012 (Women) and 1-9 December 2012 (Men).

Fantastic news! More matches mean more chances to field new players. Hopefully the matches are held on FIFA international dates to players can be released by their clubs.

We are in the group with DPR Korea, Guam, Hong Kong & Taiwan with a game every second day. It will be a busy time for the boys and some tired legs will be returning to the A-League. We will need a half-decent side to face Korea.

Do we know if we need to qualify 1st or will 2nd suffice? I can't find any info on the EAFF site.

They have to win the group to qualify. It isn't a qualification group in the normal sense, it's just a tournament to see who gets the 4th and final charity spot against china, japan, s. korea

On the wiki page

It just says the winner of the group will qualify. Wasn't there a study done lately showing less then 3 days break between match is bad for players health?

Fantastic but we are playing victory at Hindmarsh on the 7th and I'm a bit worried without Eugene- remember the preseason game? So hopefully they get actual game time to make it worth it.

So glad for them to get the call up but surely the FFA should suspend those matches?

Terry ANTONIS, Eli BABALJ, Aziz BEHICH, Robert CORNTHWAITE, Dino DJULBIC, Ivan FRANJIC, Brett EMERTON, Eugene GALEKOVIC, Richard GARCIA, Rostyn GRIFFITHS, Ben HALLORAN, Scott JAMIESON, Osama MALIK, Michael MARRONE, Matt McKAY, Mark MILLIGAN, Aaron MOOY, Tom ROGIC, Mat RYAN, Matt SMITH, Adam TAGGART, Archie THOMPSON, Michael THWAITE, Dario VIDOSIC, Luke WILKSHIRE

So with that squad what would our 11 be? Surely it would have to be an attacking line up.

------------------Euge
Corntwaite--Thwaite--Djulbic--Wilkshire

-----------Griffiths--McKay

Garcia----------Rogic----------Vidosic
---------------Babalj

For some games, however I think the first game will be more conservative as we settle the back 4 for the second game which is against North Korea. After that we will most likely cut loose.

My guess for the North Korea game (ie our strongest starting 11)

---------------Eugene------------------
Wilkshire---Corny--Thwaite---Behich
----------Milligan---McKay-------------
Vidosic---------Rogic---------Mooy
---------------Babalj-----------------

How are we going to follow these games - anyone got a schedule? Is it on any TV at all?
