"The disappointment is enormous," Osieck said.

"We had a very, very poor first half, we didn't get into the game. Our passing was a disaster, we never could get into our normal rhythm.

"We played a lot of long balls and I don't know why that happened.

Here's an idea - play some players who are actually playing regular football.

That would require the FFA sending people out to actually see them. Not an option!

Disagree I think there is talent out there and the FFA is in a sense ignoring it. They are hell bent on promoting youth that come through their pathways ie HAL, AIS and youth national sides. Kids that show promise for old NSL clubs and then get picked up by European clubs are being ignored because the FFA want to prove they are the ones making our footballing world a better place. Even though the Harrys, Dukes, Zelics and Emertons of our 'golden' generation all came through that way. I encourage all of you to go on the OS Aussies website. They have many many players who they interview and discuss who are far more talented then the average joes selected for our olyroos squad. Sure many of them weren't able to be selected due to games being played in Australia (why the FFA sisn't consider playing home games in Europe like what Brazil and Argentina do is beyond me) and not on FIFA dates but I feel most of the Olyroo squad selected would be lucky to make to bench of a side selected on merit and not training pathway.

The Socceroos were my way into football, and now I could barely care less. I'm way more invested in Adelaide United and Arsenal in the EPL (my disinterest may have been increased by the hatred for interlulls expressed on arseblog.com, tbh)

Ch 10 news just quoted Lucas Neill as saying the team is 'feeling no pressure' before the Iraq game tonight.

You farken what???!!

Should be shitting yourselves boys, you're a bee's dick from missing the 2014 WC. A team of young hungry kids would be gunning for this game, but we get the same old plodders who just don't realise how important qualification is to the game in this country.

Piss off the lot of 'em and start again.

Agree! Not even sure if I can be bothered watching today. Based on the current squad and how useless Holger has become. Apparently he plans on playing one of our CM in LB role because Carney can't get a game in Uzbekastan. Apparently Valeri has made the 11. Regardless of the fact he seriously hasn't played a minute of football in nearly 2 months.
This bloke is on another planet!

It's turning into a joke.

I sometimes get the warm fuzzy feeling of the Roos when I see the fixture come up, but then it's so quickly quashed when I see Archie, North & Neill in the lineup but no young guys.

I don't look up to this lot anymore but see them as holding back the development of our game here in Australia.

Still want us to win but.

Not a fan of any of the recent left back options. But to be fair, Mckay has done the job there before.

Holger makes some strange decisions. But I'd still rather him than the 4-3-3 über alles nuts running everything else in the national system.

PS. where is Kennedy? Is he not fit?

PPS. Dislike Archie Thompson's output for the national side in general, but he was clearly the only player who looked interested in winning the game vs Jordan. Any criticism of his selection in the squad suggests that one didn't watch the last game

I was going to jump with joy about the fact that Eurosport is showing the game live in 15min or so and then I read the last few posts and I get brought right back to reality.

Hell.
"Use by date" passed.
It could be a watershed game.
Holger's Waterloo?

There is so much misplaced appreciation for the win last night on Twitter. How can people seriously be praising a performance that only just managed to beat a deplorable Iraq?
