Lets just put this on watr's record for those who did not see the match...

-First half great game all round

-second half ...........

-Miligan given a second yellow for attempting to kick a waiste high ball and nipping a defender with his head over the ball.

-japan scores

-aussies awarded a pen for nothing literally nothing but a touch. Aussies score, 1-1

-aussies put a through ball of sorts in, jap defender misses ball and intentionally handballs, NO card!! Defender was also on a yellow!

-Long ball to brosque minor tangle with defender, absolutely nothing in it, defender is given a second yellow for nothing....again.

-finally japan awarded kick infront of box , about to take it annnnnnnd ref blows full time..

You can't make up that sort of stuff. Football has it all. Drama, Joy, Pain, Anger and now comedy!

Went to the game tonight. Its all been said already, but:

First half awesome. Second half I just couldn't work out what was going on. The red card seemed ridiculous - the penalty seemed non existant. There was another red card which I wasn't sure what for either and then the ref ended the game right in the middle of a set piece.

Then Endo got man of the match, when Honda was head and shoulders above everyone else.

The only conclusion I could come to was that the ref had a lazy grand on a score draw with Endo as MOM.

On another note, was at the pub after the game and Jon McKain, Joel Porter, Bruce Djite & Alex Wilkinson all walked in together.

Who establishes MOM? The commentators on my stream were bagging Endo out. The only thing I saw him do was a lousy FK.
I reckon the pub would have gone up ten levels of cool when Bruce walked in!

I saw the second half from the 0-1 and there were some very strange decisions.

Japan and Australia both played well. The ref had a shocker though at least he was consistently woeful! Can't claim bias, there were odd decisions all over the park.

I thought Ogenovski had a great game last night as did Kawashima who really pulled off some good saves.

In all an exciting game and one that fills me with confidence in relation to the rest of the campaign.

Did anyone else notice the high level of sportsmanship during the match?

Everytime a player was on the ground someone from the opposing team helped them up and gave a pat on the back.

Imo thats great to see, as there is a real rivalry between to 2 countries now but there still remains the respect, hooe it stays like that

have to agree with what was said about team selections. why north still gets game time i got no idea! why rhys williams has been sitting on the bench.

i can understand kruse being picked for the roo's. he did have a decent asian cup campaign for the games he came on for. i agree though with leckie, he should at least be making it into camp to prep him. when milligan came on for bresc, i just had that feeling that something would go wrong for him. i still dont rate him as a player at all.

it was good to see rukya come on. his defending skills need to be improved. his failure to track honda resulted in that goal and seemed out of sorts when we were pressed in our own half

I don't consider missing 5 absolute sitters decent. And that was over 12 months ago. He has literally done nothing since then. Archie must have tought him the art of chumming up to the coach and good players so you get pick purely on that!

God I hope he gets some game time.

IMO he is our best player. Such a workhorse. Can't wait to have him back in the Soceroos squad and wish him all the best at Aston Villa.
