WCQ Squad
and the 26 (to be cut to 23) are:
Mark Bresciano (Al Nasr), Alex Brosque (Shimizu S-Pulse), Tim Cahill (Everton), David Carney (Bunyodkor), Nathan Coe (SonderjyskE), Adam Federici (Reading), Chris Herd (Aston Villa), Brett Holman (AZ Alkmaar), Mile Jedinak (Crystal Palace), Joshua Kennedy (Nagoya Grampus), Harry Kewell (Melbourne Victory), Neil Kilkenny (Bristol City), Robbie Kruse (Fortuna Dusseldorf), Matt McKay (Busan I'Park), Mark Milligan (JEF United), Lucas Neill (Al Jazira), Jade North (Consadole Sapporo), Sasa Ognenovski (Seongnam Ilhwa), Nikita Rukavytsya (Hertha Berlin), Mark Schwarzer (Fulham), Matt Spiranovic (Urawa Reds), Archie Thompson (Melbourne Victory), Carl Valeri (Sassuolo), Luke Wilkshire (Dinamo Moscow), Rhys Williams (Middlesbrough), Michael Zullo (FC Utrecht)
It is great to see Herd and Rukavysta in the mix though the absence of Troisi is interesting. Emo has an injury. I am expecting Thompson, Kilkenny and Kruse to miss, though Kruse may depend on Kennedy's back problem.
Blah Blah's starting 11 (never to be picked):
McKay--------Brosque-----------Rukavysta
----------------Holman---------
---------Kewell--------Williams---------
Herd-------Neill----Spiranovic-----Wilkshire
----------------Federici-----------------

Only positive is Ruka.
Why is North/Archie in?
There must be something we are missing.

To be fair North has been getting game time with Sapporo and may be playing well.

Re: WCQ Squad
I agree North isn't flash but you have to honor gametime in a decent league. But Archie makes zero sense. I love how Holger had to come out and defend his selection. Harry is fair enough. As Pim said a 70% Harry is better then a 100% squady and I totally agree. Holger said Archie showed a lot in the Saudi game. The bloke the thirty F%$king two! He shouldn't be showing a lot he should be DOING a lot. That is the kind of talk you offer a 19 year old who shows promise not a 32 year old keeping that kid out of the squad!

Re: WCQ Squad
I've almost lost complete faith in Holger. Sure I can see why he might play North but when Holman or Emerton or Williams is fit, Wilky should go to RB and I'd have Holman at RM. No question.
I am lost for words regarding Archie. I don't mind him being played in a friendly game but a WCQ is beyond comprehension. There really is nothing more to be said on the matter. I actually am dumbfounded.

Re: WCQ Squad
I am the same. Personally I am starting to feel a little distant from the NT. I feel they are an extension of the FFA and the FFA are 9 times out of 10 f%&king useless! I feel the NT is going down a path I don't agree with and the outcome IMO is going to result in bitter disappointment for many people. I think maybe I'm just preparing myself for that!

Re: WCQ Squad
I think our only hope is if North and Thompson suffer serious injuries which will keep them out of the NT for at least 2 years (they can recover after Bazil 2014). I say serious because Holger thinks a 20% fit Archie is still worth wasting a spot in the NT because of his "softness" for the striker as well as his "morale boosting qualities".
If they are injured, Holger will be "forced" to use quality players such as a Rukavitsa who plays in the Bundesliga or Williams who plays in the Championship. These players will actually be around in 2014.

I've completely lost track of these qualifiers due to the wall to wall coverage of the Euro.
I think it's time for a generation change in the NT and "damn the Torpedoes!"

Offshorejack - thought he was back for this one? I knew he missed Oman for this reason.

Re: WCQ Squad
I think they would except that our next generation isn't very good according to Han Berger! Plus the mainstream media and armchair fans only know Harry, Timmy and Lucas, bring in Leckie and Ruka and none of them would know who they are! I sadly wouldn't be surprised if the FFA actually think this way!I've completely lost track of these qualifiers due to the wall to wall coverage of the Euro.
