Olyroos qualifiers

Postby Stuckey Mon Jan 09, 2012 7:30 pm

OLYROOS boss Aurelio Vidmar has been directed to choose just three A-League players per club for next month's AFC Olympic qualifiers.

The ruling may hinder Vidmar's case in picking the best-available Olyroos in the quest to qualify for the London Games in July.

Why risk not making the Olympics! Doesn't the FFA run the HAL? Let Viddie pick his own squad!

So we get shitty when European clubs refuse to release players for our national team, then our own federation imposes a restriction like this?! Ridiculous.

great news indeed, especially Leckie.

I'm not seeing much game time for Oar at Utrecht at the moment though (or Zullo).

A loss against Uzbekistan however I am not terribly surprised. We trained in Dubai and then went to play a very competent team in sub-zero temperatures. Hardly ideal preparation. Against muppets this approach may work, but not against sides with youth development programmes like those of the Uzbeks.

Yeah? Dumb move! I didn't see the disallowed goals from us but from what I did see of the game we didn't cope with the conditions at all. Its not over but I struggle to see where our goals are going to come from in th next two matches. Hopefully Viddie pulls out the big guns for the next matches so Leckie and Bulut need to have stormers!

MATHEW Leckie has been denied a leave pass from his German club for London Olympic Games qualifying duty as the Olyroos hover on the brink of failure.

But coach Aurelio Vidmar was delivered some comforting news when Aaron Mooy was released by Scotland's St Mirren to bolster the squad for the must-win clash against the United Arab Emirates in Abu Dhabi tomorrow night.

So no Leckie, McGrath and Esposito was over looked again. Bye bye London :(

I hope Mooy stars at least he appears to be a star for the future hopefully this may get him in the Socceroos deadrubber coming up.

So Iraq just beat the Uzzies 2-1 so the ladder looks something like this

UAE - Played 4, 8pts, +4 GD
Uzzies - Played 5, 8pts, +3 GD
Iraq - Played 5, 4pts, -5 GD
Aus - Played 4 3pts, -2 GD

So pretty much anything but a win will see us out.
We play UAE tonight Adelaide time.

I saw the Uzbek, Iraq game last night. The Iraqi's were lucky.

Hence if we win tonight we then face the Uzbeks in Australia, winner takes all.

AURELIO Vidmar is safe. He'll keep a coaching job in the national teams system as long as he is doing what Football Federation Australia technical director Han Berger says.

But herein lies the problem.

Australia's 2012 Olympic Games dream was shattered yesterday when the Olyroos bowed out of London with a whimper, losing 1-0 to the United Arab Emirates.

Val dropping the bombshells! Love it!

This system is extremely sad if true surely the cost of only selecting AIS funded players is too high if missing out on the Olympics and two terrible youth World Cup campaigns?

Not a bad HAL squad. Going on Mullen's last game he didn't deserve another call up.
FYI did you know the Tom Rogic has represented Australia at senior level already? For the Futsalroos 6 caps.

Same old crap served up by the Olyroos. Most of the possesion but none of the attacking chances. Our build up play is too slow for a counter which appears to be the only way we're going to score, and our attacking skills aren't good enough to make anything if we actually get somewhere with the build up.
