"Ben Buckley is confident Adelaide Oval can host the Asian Cup games in 2015. He has also vowed to deliver a Socceroos match to South Australia."

Please, please, please, please, please (ad nauseum).

I'd fly back for that.

It is bull. A sop to the long suffering SA fans of the game. There is no way they will play games here unless the eastern seaboard has a major incident which prevents them using their stadia.

As for the WCQ being played here, I will believe it when I can buy a ticket.

Well we were fixtured to play an Asian Cup qualifier here - and at the time were promised another game after the Lebanon game was cancelled.

It wouldn't surprise me in the least if Adelaide gets a friendly. There's no ACQ for us for several years, and I can't see us getting a WCQ.

The issue with that will be centered around the Adelaide Oval redevelopment (which may still not go ahead).

we haven't had a stadium in SA that is worthy of hosting the socceroos in the past, when that happens we will see it.
The lack of sellout crowds for various games in Melbourne and Sydney i the recent years especially for Asian Cup quals has made it abundantly clear that the games need to be shared around to keep interest up. The FFA relies on sellouts for income and they won't care where it's coming from.
The proposed 50k AO development will be a godsend for the FFA as it will give them a viable option in a region starved of national team games.

It's Serbia at AO- maybe in June.
THE Socceroos are set to return to Adelaide Oval for the first time in more than 50 years.

The Advertiser understands that Australia will play World Cup nemesis Serbia in an international friendly in June and the match will almost certainly be in Adelaide, as Melbourne cannot host the game because of clashes with other football codes.

And a call to Arms to the states football supporters from Val,
WORLD-CLASS soccer is set to hit Adelaide for the first time in seven years, but there is much at stake.

We won't be forgiven unless South Australians get off their backsides to make a statement at Adelaide Oval when the Football Federation Australia gifts the state the Socceroos v Serbia clash in June.

Anything less than a 30,000 crowd figure and it will appear the FFA's sceptical hierarchy would have enough ammunition to take the flagship Socceroos away from SA for a very, very long time.
Action is now needed where SA can again prove to be the capital of the game in this country.
Hear, Hear!

Yay! This will be awesome! Everyone should get behind this match to promote it till the cows come home!

Its so great it a big team as well! I would rather this instead of a pathetic Asian Cup qualifier against Oman or Kuwait!

C'mon you Roos!

Would be amazing if it does go ahead. I won't be getting too excited until it's actually been announced though.

Awesome stuff! I can finally wear all that Socceroos stuff I've been collecting!

Should be plenty of "away" support as well, atmosphere will be fantastic!

Serbia, a great team to play against!

Can anyone tell me if members of A-league clubs get first choice tickets along with FFA members?

Lets hope this goes ahead as i feel the more socceroos games we get will equate to more interest in AU

Not sure about that - but if you're in the MyFootball Family then you should get first shot at tickets...

this is where you'd like to see a little cross promotion with the FFA. Why not have any A-league members gets discounted Socceroo tickets to encourage A-league members? Sure the Socceroos are a huge cash cow for the FFA but some sort of benefit to members would be clever.
