Val was saying that there is a chance we may actually see games at hindmarsh.

Obviously we wont have socceroos matches but id be happy to see a japan game here.

To be absolutely blunt though, even canberra gets socceroos games, Adelaide gets SFA!!! Even though this state time and again proves its self with A-league attendances, and we dont need a gimmick or even a title winning team to show up!
Not only that GC get a game!!

A painted clay pitch & 2,000 - 5,000 supporters must impress the FFA - WHAT A JOKE!!

I agree Gold Coast is a better place to visit if you like shallowness & theme parks, but won't they come to watch football and fly out again to wherever their team is playing next? :?

Yeah great points about stadiums and locations.

My point is more so that even an A-league socceroos game or even an U21 socceroos game would be great, Hell ill pay good money to watch the Matildas in adelaide.

I fully understand why we will never see a full strength socceroos take on spain or portugal lol.

The eastern states get a big leg up from all their international matches they get yet dont seem to take advantage of it. Imagine the buzz with football/soccer fans in adelaide if we got an a-league based socceroos and and a matildas game, and i think the flow on effect would be noticable

FFA tweeted this morning about the reasons Perth & Adelaide have missed out:
#AC2015 #WA #SA We were obliged to reflect AFC regulations & compliance with stadium capacity, media & corp hospitality requirements.

#AC2015 #WA #SA Cricket season conflicts in Dec/Jan practically ruled out most major WA and SA venue options.

The papaer said stadiums need to have atleast 20,000 seats, can anyone recall what Hindmarsh stadiums capacity is with temp seating for the olympics?

Though, i think we would still fail with media facilities

If adelaide crowds keep pushing up the way they have added with our new consortium full of powerful business people it may not be out of the question to see them try pressure the government into at very least upgrading hindy.... or maybe pigs might fly? i dunno

Adam Peacock said this morning that he'd emailed the FFA and the AFC's minimum requirement was 23k - which is why Parramatta Stadium was included as one of the proposed venues in the bid (although it's official capacity is somewhere between 21-22k they can get a bit more in).

If you are looking at Sydney being the centrepoint of the Asian Cup then a number of stadia within easy each makes sense. A number of stadiums in the immediate area with nods to Brisbane and Melbourne was always on the cards, hence the likes of Canberra. If it was to be based in Melbourne then Adelaide would certainly be included, this is not the case.

The better question is Socceroos home games in Adelaide and Perth which we missed out on in the past. I believe the ease of access to Socceroos matches on the East Coast makes them a little ambivalent. Hold a match in Perth and one in Adelaide and watch the numbers that attend the next game in Sydney go through the roof. Absence makes the heart grow fonder.

If Bin hammin can lead a Qatar big for the world cup that meets basically none of the outlined criteria,

Then surely Hindmarsh is suitable for a couple of lowly ranked games for the tournament?

They are kidding if they think a match like India vs Qatar will get more than 17 000 people

Don't forget that Asian Cup games have been played in smaller stadiums than Hindmarsh as well.

That's a complete fallacy.

Doesn't matter. AFC will not allow temporary stands/seating to fulfill requirements, unlike the IOC. It's written quite clearly in stadia requirements; even for international club tournaments.

On a serious note, what criteria did Qatar fill.

The submitted bid fulfills all requirements of hosting a World Cup and addresses all potential issues there may be with hosting a World Cup in the region, i.e. heat.

If there's someone in the media going around, saying the Qatar World Cup bid did not meet whatever requirements, I'd love to know who they are, because they're wrong. The bid book is publicly available for anyone to read.

I'm sorry but they didn't address the heat issue.

What about heat?!

We have managed to invent an airconditioning technology to cool entire stadiums! No, we can't show you it, just take our word for it alright? So what if noone has ever managed to make this kind of thing happen before. You know Qatar is really on the forefront of tech. We also invented light speed aircraft and teleportation but we can't show you that either just believe yo.

I may be wrong, but is there not a rule that states a country needs a minimum amount of cities to host the World Cup?
