There is some very cool music from the Sahel, particularly Desert Blues.

This is a song from a Tuareg group. The video is pretty trippy.

Love Tinariwen! Group Bombino & Group Inerane are other very good examples of the genre ...

Desert Blues is great genre, built upon the pain of migrant workers trying to get to Europe and local cultural displacement due to the oil industry in the Sahel.

The migrant workers coming through from West Africa has resulted in some interesting collaborative works.

I finished watching the Victory v Adelaide game, flicked on Youtube for some music and this is what was offered in light of the sterling effort from the kids......an Australian composition no less.

My nephew and I were talking through the various metal genres the other night and folk metal was mentioned. Good example.
Here's another, Samurai Metal from GYZE in Japan.

Powerful piece from Gurrumul Yunupingu, completed weeks before his passing.

For those curious, after his death the family of Gurrumul gave permission for his name and image to be used publicly so his music and legacy won't be forgotten.
