Panini World Cup Stickers - 2014

Postby sevengoals Thu Apr 24, 2014 5:15 pm

Anyone collecting down there?

I have a 11 year old football mad nephew living in the house downstairs so my wife and I are full on into it helping him.
( i wonder why he is football mad and a United fan... :) )

We found Mathew Leckie yesterday.
Hell he has beefed up, neck and shoulders like a bullock.

Serious stuff...
Avid World Cup sticker collectors in Rio de Janeiro were given a shock this week when a van carrying hundreds of thousands of Panini stickers was stolen during a delivery.

Thieves made off with some 300,000 of the adhesive stickers featuring players who will appear in the forthcoming World Cup finals in Brazil which start in June, according to local press reports on Thursday.

Despite my best attempts to convince myself that it is an educational tool which serves as an excellent way of getting to know footballers from far-flung corners of the globe before this summer's World Cup, there is something comically pathetic about a man of my advanced years entering a shop with the sole intention of purchasing a Panini World Cup sticker album...

These things are almost an unofficial currency in some parts of the world right?

Might see an a-league version some day

At my nephew's school it seems like they are.
Jakob tells me that it's a "swap frenzy" at lunch time.

I was in town today, (Vienna) and I walked passed a cafe in the Schottenfeldgasse with a sign in the window,

" Panini Tausch - 18hr Freitag " - "Panini Exchange - 6pm Friday"
