Agree- it'd be like if Football canned the offside rule and had no keepers.

Lots of goals for the superficial fan but no substance.

Test cricket is the best form of the game.

I'm not comparing 20 over cricket to test matches, I'm comparing it to 50 over cricket.

20/20 cricket forked from one day cricket 10 years ago. All the worst rule changes in 50 over cricket made in that time have not been reproduced in 20/20 cricket, (with the exception of the 'free-hit',) I would posit that it is a less molested form of the game than one-day cricket is these days. Pushing the boundary ropes back closer to the fence should be enough to redeem the game.

Except for the no keepers, thats futsal and prior to the obsession with posssesion stats, when every Australian squad needed to be 11 Nick Carles, having every young player play 30 hours of futsal a day was apparently crucial.

Looking at crowd at mcg and it is terrible. Has the fad died off already? I have not watched any of the other games so don't really know if it's all over crowds are down or just this game

Apparently the next game in Perth is sold out. I think the weather in Melbourne would have scared people off. Searing heat then pouring rain.

Upon some research of the crowds it's not that bad. I never watch and was under the impression the crowds were much bigger than they are.

Isn't this killing Test cricket?

Personally if im to attend another sport in summer its the baseball everytime.

Good family atmosphere, great prices plus watching tom brice chug a beer from the crowd to celebrate his walk off home run...priceless.

Yes it most definitely is destroying test cricket. I hate it.

Sad.
There are few things more satisfying and uniting for Australians as beating the English for the Ashes.
I don't think stonking them at 20/20 would have the same resonance.

Sounds like a great night out.

Still at Norwood Oval?

Yeah still norwood oval.

Pick the right game and you might get a double header and up to 2500 crowd which gives a good baseball atmosphere.

Its still not quite like the adelaide giants back in the day, but americana was huge in the early/ mid 90s.

I am not a 20/20 fan at all and I am worried that Travis Head might become a short game player rather than a test player I think he can.

However his feat tonight in the Big Bash to score 56 off the final 15 balls of the match to deliver victory for the Strikers was simply brilliant, astoundingly good.
