My Cider project.

Postby flavze Thu Nov 28, 2013 11:16 am

Hi ya'll been meaning to put this up for awhile but have been slack but myself and a couple of mates are having a crack at making and selling cider as combined we have all the various expertise needed.

Only thing we were lacking a bit of is the $$ so we have launched a crowd funding thingy through pozible if anyones interested.
http://www.pozible.com/project/175254

It's a rather dry cider with some funky tones to it, nothing like the sweet mainstream ciders out there.

So if it seems ya thing we would love it and be grateful if you signed up.
Cheers.... Nathan

Hells yeah.
I will donate when I can. The world needs more proper cider (and less cruddy lolly water). Have spent a year doing fieldwork talking to winemakers etc in McLaren Vale & the most important thing I've learned is that there is no more noble calling for a man than to make his own booze ... :D
All I need is some tasty waves, a cool buzz, and I'm fine.

It's actually made in the Vale by Bryn Richards from Chapel Hill.

Gotta say I was able to try one of these on the weekend and really enjoyed it. Goes the against the current trend of sickly sweet ciders and has a really nice dry, rustic almost mild spicy ginger ale flavour. Will be getting my hands on a carton or two.

Just at a guess I would think some ciders (the proper, cloudy farmhouse ones) would suit ageing better than others. Like beer, most is probably best drunk fresh but some might age well (a la some of the Coopers beers). Best ask Flavze though!

There is a Cider festival on in Hindmarsh Square this weekend, that would be the place to learn more about it...

hopefully there will be a good representation of small & local producers there
