Re: Ashes
The 'hotspot' was on the bat before the ball passed and the sound came after. The 3rd umpire needs some lessons in causality I think.

Re: Ashes
Looked out to me first time round. I thought we'd gotten away with one there!
IMO we got a lot closer then we really should have. Our middle order seriously let us down. But we have exposed England's inability to bowl sides out and they complete reliance on Swan and Anderson.

Re: Ashes
Yeah, regardless of that decision, we were very poor. Did well to get so close.
Gives us hope for the series though!
Interloper - what else could he have hit?
There was no pad, pitch or anything else anywhere near his bat.

Re: Ashes
the sound could have been Pad on Pad, anything really. Granted the 3rd umpire doesn't have the magic/possibly bullshit "Snickometer" to judge so I don't expect him to use that.Yeah, regardless of that decision, we were very poor. Did well to get so close.

But he can't use the sound until he has definitive vision and the only shot you can see the alleged hotspot on the bat is from the side and you didn't get a view of the bat from before the ball passed it (due to being behind the batsman,) considering the mark in question was smaller and dimmer than the glare of the sun on the ball (clearly visible) it's highly dubious proof.

Re: Ashes
I thought the 2 bits of evidence combined (the snicko and the hotspot) were compelling enough and the right call was made. I reckon England weren't convinced though and just chanced it.
Thought the Agar decision was the right one - although I'm 99% sure he was out, that 1% doubt was enough to give him the benefit. Trott's was a strange decision - even though there was no hotspot the ball clearly deviated. And the fact that the umpire gave him not out I didn't think they should have overruled.
All in all not a great match for the umpires. That Broad decision was the worst I've seen.

Re: Ashes
The evidence in the videos used is not enough to confirm or deny anything for me. I would have left whatever the umpire on the field said either way.

I was managing a bar in a hospitality suite. £950 per head Although I work 60 hours in 4 days I loved every second of the experience! Pity bought our lousy batting!^^^

Was it just me or did basically very single close call go England's way?

Re: Ashes
That's the thing. Series like these often the momentum swings between the sides England has one good session then after lunch Australia takes it back with a few quick wickets. This is destroyed when every single tight call goes England's way. I agree we batted stupidly, with Watson, Khawaja, Hughes and Clarke all giving their wicket away though.^

Re: Ashes
I don't think it was luck. England have been far and away the better side in both test matches from my perspective. Umpiring decisions aside.
We were lucky to get away with a close loss in the second after our #11 nearly made a freak ton.
Other than that we have been dismal.
