Still - 2 Asian teams make the semis, Aussies aren't even at the Games.

Future isn't looking too bright.

Thank god we are already in the Asian confederation and there are 4.5 spots to make the World Cup finals.

Maybe if we got half the squad Viddie wanted together thing would have been different. Brazil are smart about things. Why play home games in your country if you can't get your best squad there? We should have played our home games in Europe and made the HAL players travel.

Australian athletes should be ashamed... right from the start they acted like brats...complaining of racism and threatining a boycott...demanding a female must carry the flag or they will boycott! getting reprimanded for acting up! then they underperform. the athletes seem to be using the olympics as a root festival more than a sporting event..i remember the sydney cleaners refusing to clean up beacause of the amount of used condoms everywhere. they have lost sight of what it's all about
on a different note, melb or bris wanting the olympics and everyone is so happy to hear it...but mention hosting the world cup and the same people scoff??

Thats just the media making something out of nothing, im sure each and every member of the aussie olympic squad gave it everything they had,

sure there were a low amount of golds but there were plenty of silver and bronze and lets be honest thats something to be very proud of still.

Ive said this plenty of time before regarding football but it applies to the olympics. There are so sooooo many countries being pulled out of the third world and are almost instantly becoming middle class.

No longer is it a select few well off countries can afford to invest in sport, we havnt got worse the world has just caught up!!

In regard to the Olyroos, meh so what!? if i remember right spain didnt score a single goal at the olympics, does this mean spain is doomed? of course not..... well atleast not football wise.

sorry i should expand, whilst we did under achieve compared to last few olympics you are right...we are a small (population wise) nation that always punched above its weight.
The thing that really annoyed me was the fact that if it wasn't gold it was like losing!!! if you make the olympics it's a massive achievment, if you make it through the heats you have done even better, medal and you should consider yourself a champion. it would be so different if 5 of those silver were gold, media would say it was a success.
but the way some acted...nothing short of embarrassing when your athletes threaten to boycott things if they dont get what they want!
