HE earns $30 an hour as a house painter, but Apostoli Giamarelos says he should be making $50,000 a year as a budding soccer superstar.

Yesterday, the Adelaide Magistrates Court was told a rear-end car crash robbed Mr Giamarelos of a national - if not international - sporting career.

Yesterday, Mr Saies said his client had played for senior teams and the SA Sports Institute squad since he was 15. He had toured England and Italy, and had two trial games with the Melbourne Knights.

Mr Saies said that, if not for the crash, Mr Giamarelos could now be earning $50,000 a year with Adelaide United.

How sad... If you work it out though $30 per hour at full time hours is more then $50,000 a year?
