Who is going to the Brazil 2014 world cup?

Blahblah the series tickets which you can buy for Aus apparently convert to the games Aus would play in had Aus made it. Meaning you still get finals tix. I emailed FIFA and had this confirmed but it seemed a little sketchy.

I'm set on going as well, but will keep an eye out on here for any further info.
Visited a travel agent yesterday and they advised that flightplans won't be available for at least another couple of months.
I'm more worried about getting accommodation and match tickets to be honest.

Being around a large number of sporting events especially EPL games here. If you are over there especially around the ground on match days you will find people selling tickets. So even if you don't have tix the morning of as long as you can afford it you'll probably go.
Time to Djbate!

I'd also be careful with what you just mentioned as there will be HEAPS of people selling counterfeited tickets as well.

Re: Whos going to the brazil 2014 world cup?
Sorry, I forgot about this thread
I'm encouraging friends and family to come stay with me (im smack bang in the middle of Rio, SP and Belo Horizonte) and Im going to organise some minibuses to take us around to the different cities. If the games are in the far north or far south it could be 2 days each way, but we're a jolly(rowdy) bunch and will make the most of it.
Depending on the logistics of it all and when we know a bit more about the location of our games Ill try and see if I can offer better advice.

Well from what I gathered, it's going to be expensive doing it through a tour group - but a hell of a lot easier. Not sure how much could be saved doing it on a shoestring...
All below prices are in AUD:
Flights from Adelaide are going to be in the vicinity of $3-3,500.
Accommodation in Rio is going to be outrageously expensive. $400 a night for a 2-3 star place according to GG Army. Most of the media and sponsors are staying here so FIFA have already reserved a lot of it. Staying in other cities will be somewhat cheaper.
Judging by my lonely planet book and factoring in the inflation for the WC, slumming it in backpackers will be $80 a night at least.
Internal flights around game days is said to be around $500US one way, $1k return. FIFA have reserved 80% of the domestic airline seats for the tournament which has pushed prices up. Busses are prohibitive in that if we're drawn to play far from Rio, it could be a 40 hour bus trip for the same price as a plane ticket.
Tickets to the actual games are the cheapest part - $100-300 per ticket.
So if you budget $3k for international flights $2k for domestic flights following Aus around and $1k for tickets, that's $6k gone without accommodation which would be around $2k to $8k depending on where you stay.
Then there's spending money while your over there.
Any one able to verify any of these prices?

The better half just landed a 2 year gig here in Manila so can't go. I could still go (plenty of leave) however if I am in Brazil watching football and she in the Philippines working then divorce proceedings would follow.
I may be off to Azerbaijan at the end of May for an orienteering competition though! Not quite Rio but still rather exotic.

Have you planned the trip yourself or are you going with a tour group?
Make sure you get some internet or at least find a wifi area and keep us updated so we can all live vicariously through you for the WC
