Just walked through Chesser St this morning and it looks great - outdoor seating, tables, lanterns, etc. The coffee shop and Chesser St Cellars wine bar/restaurant are able to have outdoor dining in the lane as well.Splash Adelaide is a program jointly funded by Adelaide City Council and the State Government, and is designed to bring the city’s streets and spaces alive in a series of pilot experiments.
The pilot projects will allow both businesses and the public to experience new concepts and ideas for the city to trial whether they will work in the long term.
Some of the experiments over the summer include:
• extended outdoor dining areas or footpath lounges
• encouraging food carts in new locations around the city
• street parties and road closures to create more people space
• plazas popping up in underused spaces, streets and squares
• new ways to experience the streets: deck chairs, table tennis tables, outdoor cinemas, markets and more
Adelaide has some awesome spaces that can be used for this sort of stuff - good to see all of this happening now! (not to mention all the pop-up bars etc that will happen during Fringe)
