If I want to hate people, it's my right. Don't ever tell me I'm wrong for that. At least what you see is what you get with me and if you don't like that then that's too bad.

A fair view here. What I fear are the inevitable witchhunts that will follow in the implementation of new policy.

So how do aborigines fit into a vision of a mono-cultural Australia?

And why do you keep bringing up the Aboriginal issue? This isn't the problem we are having here.So how do aborigines fit into a vision of a mono-cultural Australia?

because it has been the source of our most damning and consistent cross-cultural policy failures. It's also a multi-cultural issue that is at the very heart of who we are as a nation. And why do you keep bringing up the Aboriginal issue? This isn't the problem we are having here.So how do aborigines fit into a vision of a mono-cultural Australia?
A lack of tolerance isn't about people coming to Australia, it's all about the people who are already there. It's about Australians.

Re: David Cameron: "Multiculturalism has failed"
Merkel?
How can she claim multiculturalism is dead and buried in Germany when the national policy, well into the 90s, was one of repatriating the "guest workers" and their families (with a big cash handout) back to their homelands.
When that did not work they looked at integration belatedly- too little, too late.
Australia had a multicultural policy from the 70s with Gough Whitlam's Government.
Germany started thinking it should do something in the 90's.
Successive German governments have failed to address the problems of migration and integration in worsening economic conditions and now they claim multiculturalism is dead.
Come again?
Sounds like buck passing and pandering to the right.
Finger pointing.

And you've just done it again! Then why have I so often been singled out by certain people on a consistent basis? Is it any wonder why I think love and forgiveness are overrated sometimes?
I could tell you more of what I think and would want to do, but guess what, that'd be stepping over the line. And I love that!

The ethnic issue in our country is a problem, definitely. If anything, people should be grateful to hard-working Australians whose wages feed them. And why do you keep bringing up the Aboriginal issue? This isn't the problem we are having here.So how do aborigines fit into a vision of a mono-cultural Australia?
It's our core problem.

Here is an article, based upon data from various ABS census's, on an Asian perspective upon multiculturalism in Australia

It's actually quite well written.

It's actually quite well written.
While in historical terms it was the yellow and red perils that was external to Australia, in the recent past, the Asian Australia presence had been portrayed by some quarters as a socio-economic takeover and is being blamed for such items as being a threat to social cohesion, unemployment, violence, rising real estate prices in some suburbs and declining prices in other suburbs, environmental degradation, urban decay and exploitation of the welfare system, crime and urban decline. The presence of Asians in Australia has frequently aroused debate within certain quarters, the more recent ones being the Blainey debate in 1984, the 1986 comments by Mr. John Howard about threats to social cohesion with an increasing multicultural population.
Research by Jayasuriya notes that the aggregate data with regard to almost all the major social indicators such as crime rates, fertility levels, divorce rates, health status and educational performance suggests that there are no significant differences between Asian Australians and other migrant groups (Jayasuriya, 1990:11)

Re: David Cameron: "Multiculturalism has failed"
Tell me, who built this country, its economy, its institutions, its quality of life? Why is it that people are actually attracted to this and not countless other countries? Come on, be honest here. Same problems in the UK.So... anglos are hard workers and ethnics are lazy dole bludgers? The ethnic issue in our country is a problem, definitely. If anything, people should be grateful to hard-working Australians whose wages feed them.

Yes, we do have problems with people abusing welfare, drugs and alcohol. That's part of the problem.
