I think this Wikileaks situation is fascinating. A real turning point for the InterWeb.
I live in London ATM but I have been underwhelmed by Gillard and Co response.
Thoughts?

Re: Oops! Google Chrome could not find www.mastercard.com
I've been following it pretty closely and with great interest. I personally love what Wikileaks is doing, and I reckon if the US stopped acting like cunts then Wikileaks would pretty much be a non-event.
Assange is getting completely stitched up by the Swedes though (who to be fair are being held to ransom by the US in regards to intelligence sharing etc if they don't act). Has anyone read what's actually happening with these alleged 'sex crimes'?
Have a read of this... it's quite long but fascinating none the less.

Note that 'Sarah' in the story is a left-wing political activist called Anna Ardin (who has been involved in anti-Castro organisations in Cuba with CIA links) and 'Jessica' is Sofia Wilén.

i'm not informed enough to really comment, but i will say that i think this is a real turning point in regards to Democratic government censorship and secrets full stop. more than just a turning point for the internet. governments will need to start becoming relatively honest with the people they represent.
i found this little snippet interesting
it's things like this that the news should be reporting, not that shit that mainstream media produce. i admit that i am still iffy about WikiLinks, still undecided. do not have enough information to make an educated opinion. but still, i can see the massive positives in such an idea and organisation.Note that 'Sarah' in the story is a left-wing political activist called Anna Ardin (who has been involved in anti-Castro organisations in Cuba with CIA links) and 'Jessica' is Sofia Wilén.

EDIT:"The core of all this lies with the failure of the government of the United States to properly protect its own diplomatic communications," Australian Foreign Minister Kevin Rudd said Wednesday, criticizing the fact that tens of thousands of U.S. government employees had access to the cables.
1) that's amazing. well done to their supporters for holding this fight up, and 2) wow, just wow @ my bolded part.Although Amazon has stopped providing its servers for hosting Wikileaks and EveryDNS, the domain name firm, has refused to translate the Wikileaks.org address into an IP address, the whistleblower website has so far managed to survived despite its founder's arrest in the UK.
Wikileaks has survived by using multiple IP addresses and over 500 mirror sites created by volunteers. But to survive a superpower's wrath, it needs donations to pay for computers, expert programmers and other bills.
If you want to contribute you can log in to https://donations.datacell.com/ and donate to Wikileaks by using your credit card. There is a catch. Your card should not be using the payment networks of Visa or Mastercard as these companies have stopped processing donations to Wikileaks

I live right near Wandworth prison where Assange is now.
Terrible. All the attacks are great Anon doing fine work.
It is good to hear Rudd and Howard showing signs of sovereignty.
Assange is getting stitched up in big way but now he has Geoffrey Robertson QC in his corner.. the plot thickens.
There are some things Wikileaks can't do. For everything else, there's Operation Payback

Paypal was down a couple of hours ago. Seems to be up again but I know 'they' were targeting api.paypal.com though so payments might not be getting processed at the moment.

Great!Geoffrey Robertson QC in his corner.. the plot thickens.
http://www.guardian.co.uk/media/2010/de ... eace-prizeRussia has suggested that Julian Assange should be awarded the Nobel peace prize, in an unexpected show of support from Moscow for the jailed WikiLeaks founder.
In what appears to be a calculated dig at the US, the Kremlin urged non-governmental organisations to think seriously about "nominating Assange as a Nobel Prize laureate".
I also feel he is being stitched up somehow.

aint nothin any government can do now to stop wikileaks, it's got way to much support amongst the web users and has massive support.
There's something like 350 mirror sites for wikileaks.
Plus the mainstream media is jumping onboard the support of wikileaks, see laurie oaks at the walkleys.

Adelaide is not only a bastion of Football.
I work nearby so might pop down to Westminster Magistrates Court in London to see a bit of history Tuesday night.
He will get released that's my bet.
