Recommend albums together with a description and sample, please attempt to stay away from your every day stuff that you'd be likely to find without the aid of this thread. No download links are to be provided, however a couple of google searches and they shouldn't be hard to find.

I haven't actually got Wrong, just one in my list of many to check out.

What I'm trying to achieve with this thread is not a place to judge musical taste but a place to discover music and experience something beyond our general music comfort zone, I love going to 4chans /mu/, picking a random album and listening to it, I've found some great albums that way and also some pretty terrible ones but I find it a much better way of finding new (to me) music than putting on the radio which even in more alternative stations tends to follow a predictable pattern.

Can't get enough of this album at the minute, in danger of spoiling it by over-listening.

http://www.sublimefrequencies.com/
SUBLIME FREQUENCIES is a collective of explorers dedicated to acquiring and exposing obscure sights and sounds from modern and traditional urban and rural frontiers via film and video, field recordings, radio and short wave transmissions, international folk and pop music, sound anomalies, and other forms of human and natural expression not documented sufficiently through all channels of academic research, the modern recording industry, media, or corporate foundations. SF releases sound recordings and video works from Africa, the Middle East, Asia, and Latin America and is focused on an aesthetic of extra-geography and soulful experience inspired by music and culture, world travel, research, and the pioneering recording labels of the past. With an approach that sidesteps academic protocol and corporate funding, SF present their releases from an aesthetic viewpoint of promoting music, sound, and images that are rich in expressive ideas past and present from ignored areas of the world. Sublime Frequencies is a small, independent record label completely self-financed and motivated to elevate International recognition for artists and styles of music somehow ignored by the world entertainment industry with a major focus on the popular music renaissance that began during the 1960’s and continues to this day.
this label is amazing if you're a wannabe ethnomusicologist like me!
highlights from the stuff i've heard so far include some awesome '60s Khmer pop & rock, Thai Molam stuff and surf music, Western Sahara guitar music, Iraqi Choubi, Latin American psychedelica..

there's also a bloke on Sublime Frequencies called Omar Souleyman, brilliant derelict Syrian electro-folk-pop... he's going to be at Womad this year, can't wait
All I need is some tasty waves, a cool buzz, and I'm fine.

Well in with the Future of the Left. If you haven't, check out the preceding band Mclusky. 'Do Dallas' is their second and most popular.

Changing direction slightly, I can't help but love Monster Magnet. Rock music so wonderfully stupid at times you have to have some smarts to create it this well.

Latest album 'Mastermind' is a consistently great album of stoner/space/garage rock. This single isn't the best moment, but the vid is really cool.
