World XI All La Liga squad

The "Dream Team" saw Atletico Madrid's Colombia striker Radamel Falcao the only player to play for another club selected as La Liga made a clean sweep.

Real Madrid goalkeeper Iker Casillas made it despite being recently dropped by his club, marshalling a defence comprising Dani Alves and Gerard Pique (Barcelona) and Marcelo and Sergio Ramos (Real Madrid).

Barcelona and Spain pair Xavi Hernandez and Andres Iniesta were selected in midfield along with Real Madrid strongman Xabi Alonso, with Lionel Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo and Falcao in a three-pronged attack

With Barca and Real dominant as usual and Athletico winning the Europa league can they be far away from staking a claim as the top league in the world?

How would you define the criteria though that would determine what is the 'top league in the world'? The quality of the best teams? The competitiveness? Its popularity?

I guess I would say there are a few things to look at. Calibre of players, money, competitiveness abroad. I would say looking also at how decent the sides under the usual top clubs are also. So like the Tottenham's Bilbao's Valencia's Everton's Schalke's.

I'm so glad to see a league based on smart finances and fan ownership is coming out on top, sure this is only one UCL season and you can read too much into one year, Chelsea v Man Utd everyone hailed EPL as the greatest league, Juve v AC Milan everyone welcomed the return of Serie A. But I hope this goes to should slow and steady wins the race!
